No he's just a virtual metrosexual who enjoys the abundance of customization options that his Korean gacha games have implemented as microtransactions for his pretty princess avatar. Because he, just like everyone else in the know, understands that the true endgame of today's MMOs is actually high fashion.

I am glad he's not the type of female avatar playing guy who choose them because he likes looking at their butts. I have met several guys who have said exactly that about their video game playing habits. By that logic a guy playing as a male character is gay.

I always choose women characters when given the option. It's a game so you can do whatever you want, and your character doesn't have to really reflect on you at all. And you often have more interesting clothing choices for the women.

That's also the exact thing a friend of mine always said, before they came out as trans.

When I was a teenager I made this exact argument when teased about playing female avatars. Not exactly proud of it but at the time playing the toxic masculinity reverse card was the only defense I could think of.

I [26F] won a trip to Disney World. My cousin [30F] thinks I should take her daughter [5F] but I don't want to.

quote:

I recently won an all-expense paid trip to Disney World for four nights, for myself and three guests. I am currently planning on bringing my boyfriend [30M] , my mother [54F], and my boyfriend's mother [50sF]. I know we all aren't exactly Disney's key demographic, but it honestly means a lot to our mothers that I am inviting them. Both my boyfriend and I grew up in poorer families that could never afford expensive vacations, and this is the first trip to Disney World for all of us. I know this is probably the only opportunity our mothers will ever have to go to Disney, and for now they are both in good enough health to still enjoy the rides.

The problem is with my cousin, Jane [30F], who has been hounding me to take her 5-year-old daughter, Kelly, instead of my boyfriend's mother. I know, I know, what kind of monster am I for not wanting to bring a little girl to the place where dreams come true?! Except Jane's family has already been to Disney World twice, most recently earlier this year in February. My cousin has done very well for herself - she runs a successful photography business, and her husband is an engineer. They are definitely able to afford their own vacations. If Jane wasn't so well off, I probably would consider taking Kelly if I thought I was giving a little kid a once in a lifetime experience. But I'm not. She's already been twice and she's only five! Our mothers have been ZERO times. Jane's only rationale for wanting me to take her daughter seems to be that "Disney is meant for kids. It's weird to go with only adults." and "It'd be evil to not take a 5 year old to Disney if you had the chance."

There's also the issue of Kelly herself. She's not a completely terrible child, but she's whiny and throws tantrums regularly. I don't really want to spend a week with that. Also, what if she gets homesick, what if she gets actually sick, what if she gets lost?! I'm not a parent myself and I would have no idea what to do in those situations. I also don't want to saddle my mother with the responsibility of caring for her. I've babysat Kelly before, but only for a few hours at a time. I'm not sure why my cousin is even comfortable with the idea of me taking her child three states away. We are in North Carolina, so it's not like Orlando is just a short drive down the road if something happens.

I tried telling Jane I'm not comfortable bringing Kelly, and she just said this is a good opportunity to find out what being a parent is like. What?! She's almost acting like I'm not serious about not bringing Kelly, and I'm just pretending I don't want to bring her. It's really weird. Jane and I have always been very close, like we are sisters, and I'm afraid this has the potential to ruin our relationship once it comes to a head. What is the best way to tell her no without sounding like an evil child hater, or am I being selfish for not taking a kid to Disney?

TL;DR: I won a trip to Disney World, cousin wants me to bring her spoiled young daughter instead of boyfriend's mother and I don't want to.

When video games don't give you a choice, you're almost always going to play as a man, human, white, and aged 17 to 35. When a game gives me options I'll opt for something other than what I'm used to.

It took me a long-rear end time to realize that this is not what anyone would consider a natural response, and I still hold that the people who ignore the options and always go for the most generic protagonist are the weirdos.

Conversely I feel that non-human options in most games don't have good enough writers to be more than "humans who only experience a narrow range of emotions rather than all of them" so why bother? I can just be a human who is always angry if I want to be an orc.

I swear there was another story that was the same premise, but with the details being slightly different a few months ago. Going to Disney with a group of all adults is a VERY different trip than one involving a 5 year old.

Heads up this is some no poo poo elder abuse and I really think this is the plot to a film, mercy

Dad has severe dementia/Alzheimer’s. His girlfriend bought him a one way ticket out of the US when she no longer wanted to care for him, and I can’t get him back. She continues to email and call him telling him to do dangerous things.

quote:

My dad has dual US/Danish citizenship and owns a small vacation house in Denmark where he is currently staying. He has lived with his girlfriend in her home in California for the last 20 years. She has isolated him from me since 2017 when he was diagnosed. Recently she decided she could no longer care for him and instead of accepting my request to take over, she bought him a one way ticket to Denmark and sent him off. She even got him a wheelchair escort and wrote instructions how to pay his bills. She told me it was a “short trip” but come to find out there was no return ticket. He got scared after a few weeks and came back, so she had her attorney write to me refusing all responsibility for him, denying him entry into her home and telling me he is my problem only. They never had a lease, there was no eviction process. He showed up at her door, she temporarily took him in, and then sent him off AGAIN!

I am unable to bring him home because I have nowhere to put him. Fortunately his dual citizenship allows him access to stay there and have healthcare, but neither of them did the proper paperwork so he was in limbo, wandering, without meds, police incidents etc. so I made an emergency trip to get the situation under control. We had POA notarized at the US Embassy, he has a Danish social worker now and the Danish doctor strongly recommended he be appointed a legal guardian through the municipality. I got him a new phone and blocked her number, but she just calls and texts him from different phones. She continues to harass and direct him from afar. She tells him to go to the bank and take out all his money or climb on his roof to fix the antenna, or take long train trips. He has already been robbed and missing for days trying to complete her quest.

Yesterday I was denied an elder abuse restraining order against her by our local probate court because the “protected person” is not “living” in the US. I explained to the judge that the postal service, social security administration, IRS, State tax board, and several financial institutions would all disagree, and that he is only in Denmark because his abuser sent him there and I’m unable to retrieve him. I had so much proof. She wouldn’t even hear my statement and dismissed us.

Assuming my father will not be able to return to the US, and I hold POA, what are my options for legal recourse against the girlfriend for this abuse? She needs to be held responsible.

Here's a fun one:

19M - Slytherin attitude

quote:

I'm going back to college this fall, and I've never had any close friends or any girlfriends my entire life. I think the reason why is that I'm a bit disconnected from reality. I judge others and think they are not as capable as me (an erronous assumption) - in short, I think everyone else around me is dumb and that I'm the only capable person. I think it's easy to see with this attitude I have made little friends.

My personality reminds me of Tom Riddle and Slytherin in Harry Potter - always being selective, being alone, an individual, thinking others are incapable, and living devoid of love. I think I have Tom Riddle's personality. Growing up, I poured myself into video games (solo activity) because both my parents were emotionally inacessible to me. What's worse, I'm good looking, tall, athletic, and extremely smart (at least in some types of ways, but not all) - and I'm not a book-nerd. I have extremely good communication skills with others and actually, if I had a better attitude, I should have an abundance of friends.

I want to make some friends at school - especially with girls. But everywhere I look, I begin to judge others and it's all over.

Any advice?

I remember a drag queen in the last two years got blasted for wearing ao dai without the pants, something common that fetishizes Viet women as exotic and sexually available in old propaganda and media. To say nothing of the racism that nonblack people can do towards Black people.

It's not unbelieveable that a) person who isn't from the OP's culture to steal a ethnic name and b) mention it at the last second specifically because the OP would object as it's her dead sister's name and c) weaponize their transness as if that excuses them from being racist. It wouldn't be the first time someone has hidden behind queerness to avoid being called racist or problematic.

And since I'm engaging in this conversation I need to say I am Asian and trans. I know this poo poo well from my own community. That's all I have to say on this, sorry to drag it on for another x pages later.

This is a good point, ppl absolutely DO use queerness to try and hide from being called racist or bigoted in other ways.

I honestly only am strained to disbelief by the idea that this woman is only now sitting down and picking her name out (and what a source to pull from!!!) after having gotten surgeries funded by what i assume were gofundmes. ofc, i know some trans people do change their names multiple times while figuring it out, but I think the OP would’ve mentioned that fact.

AITA for making vegan/tofu tetrizini for dinner, after my husband decided to try going vegan, then serving it to my BIL after they came over unannounced, and refusing to remake it with chicken after they didn’t like it?

quote:

My husband decided to try (temporarily) going vegan, after someone at work recommended it. So with that in mind, I decided to make tofu/vegan-tetrizini for dinner the next night (yesterday). But My BIL and his wife ended up “swinging by since they were, in the neighborhood”.

After a bite - my brother-in-law spit it out, like a toddler spits out something they don’t like. And asked me what I did to it. I told him I made it vegan style since my husband is trying a vegan diet. He told me that it was “disgusting”, and I should have picked another day to make, “this crap”. And then his wife said I could’ve, “made a dinner that had veggies or something in it instead”. Which I could have. But I didn’t. Since I didn’t even know they were coming. And I think that they were very rude about it. Although I probably should’ve mentioned it had tofu instead of chicken in it.

He didn’t like it. And I refused to remake it. I didn’t eat any, since I had ate the rest of my Panda Express while dinner was cooking.
