George H.W. oval office posted:YNAB coming out with a new feature that is actually pretty useful. Loans tracking! Sweet, thanks for the heads up. I just converted all the loans I was tracking. It doesn't look like this will be able to handle a variable rate loan as smoothly but I can't really expect them to keep up with that.

Actually seems like a cool feature, wonder how long until they start adding sponsored links for better loan interest rates and poo poo like that.

Considering the philosophy of the software is to pay down debts, and the whole reason they moved to a subscription was to avoid stuff like that... Probably never!

Interest rates are low enough that I have 0 desire to make extra payments on my mortgage vs investing that money But it's still really nice to have this view instead of punching numbers into some other tool to look at things

KYOON GRIFFEY JR posted:people with bad credit I mean, the article also says her credit is 'not too shabby.' And do those kinds of loans tend to be fully open? Really reminds me of the time me, as a Canadian, tried to set up a mortgage account in the old Microsoft Money software, like fifteen years ago or something, and it asked for all sorts of information that I'd never heard of; I don't even remember all of the terms, there was a balloon something, it was all very mystifying.

Really nice to have this for my student loans. Being able to measure the impact an extra payment has on my student loan directly in my budget is some good psychological encouragement.

I kept waiting for this day to come and it finally happened, I am losing my grandfathered price for YNAB and it is more than doubling to 14.99/mnth. Any good alternatives out there?

Yeah, at $15/month it's almost certainly not worth it. I'm about to change jobs so I won't upend my budget tracking until that's resolved, but I don't see myself sticking around at that rate. Which may make this a problem that solves itself: I can't figure out how to turn off the notification of activity on my brand new mortgage loan tracking account. The payment on Nov 1 was pulled out of my checking account and cleared there, but I don't see the equivalent button in the loan UI. Except for "update balance" I guess.

YNAB's pricing is loving ridiculous, especially considering how little features they've added since release, and more so personally, since over here in EU there's not even bank sync. At least I had the early adopter advantage, which was half the price up until now. But it seems, that one gets ended, too. I guess I'll be finally looking for an alternative. --edit: Yikes, even Quicken is cheaper than this, and offers way more features. So whats a good idea for an alternative if I've really only been using YNAB to track (I have the good problem of not having a tight budget whatsoever, I just like knowing how I'm spending each month). I don't like Mint's monetization strategy. Is Quicken the way to go? EDIT: Looks I just annual renewed in Sept so I have some breathing room. TraderStav posted:Annual plan is $8.25/mo, FWIW. Yeah, the annual plan is a lot cheaper than paying monthly. The price hike with the 10% discount amounts to another $1.13 a month. Honestly I'm at the grumpy old man stage where I'd pay software companies to not make cosmetic changes and add unwanted new features just for the sake of change. Let me just keep using the Windows I'm used to with security updates but without just moving everything around a bit and adding some new voice assistant crap that I'm never going to use! YNAB's worked flawlessly for me since I switched to the web version (and stopped using their credit card system), I'll pay up just to keep the system I'm used to at this point. Plus I renew in 2 weeks so no price hike for me yet anyway.

Do I lose the 10% YNAB4 discount if I just cancel my auto renewal? I have until next June on my sub, so hopefully they walk back this dumbassery. The literal only “feature” they’ve added that I can think of is the loan account view. My credit union transactions haven’t synched in over 2 weeks now. Ridiculous.
