you can block literally anything, the client is skinnable, you can make a copy of the default skin and just block whatever you want arbitrarily by messing with css.

That's a lot of effort to go through to remove something from a storefront I don't browse because it sucks to browse. It's okay for people to complain about something they don't like and if that's something you really can't tolerate there are methods you can use to filter their posts out of your threadviewing which take much less effort than building a custom skin for Steam.

The real answer for avoiding the Curators system is to simply never open the storefront. You're getting reviews from this thread, what do you need it for?

Gemino and his quest are still completely missable, you just get given his quest reward if you miss it. You only one shot at defeating lightning-wings lady very early in the game. Sure, she shows up as a cameo much later on, but by then you're much bigger and more concerned with the main guy. Man-who-prays-at-Socorro offs himself if you look at him, instead of running back to pick up an item before saying hi. Probably more that I can't think off of the top of my head.

Sure, the items that they drop that increase your power level are no longer missable, but having an entire questline erase itself and never getting to see the voice acting nor another instance of Catholic hosed-up-ness is sad. I play the game for the content, not the cheevos. So when lightning angel lady ambushed me, won the fight, then was forever gone I was kinda ticked.

It's kind of a weird choice from the devs, to squirrel content away that hides itself from the player. This isn't speedrun boss rush stuff, or the player making explicit choices at who to help vs leave in the ditch, it's the meat and potatoes going poof. It gives myself, and I'm sure many others, anxiety. Compared to many other games that lean the other way, making a big song and dance about how serious your choices are when in reality they aren't.

I'd say that this is me making mountains out of molehills, but then Strix came along and aired the very same comparison to HK I was making in my head. No, nothing missable in HK that you could ever care about; you can relax and enjoy the game unspoilered.

Why would an ambulance be leaving the hospital?

Been playing a little survival roguelike called Wayward. It's a bit fiddly but honestly, I wanted something I could parse after tripping over Unreal World so many times. It's fun in that specific survival-game way. Has a mechanic where if you do too many things the island considers 'destructive', worse things will start happening to you, so you have to balance your behaviour to be aligned with the island's ecosystem a bit. I have no idea how deep it goes but it's quite cheap.

I've been playing a lot of Severed Steel. Man that game feels amazing. It's definitely missing a few things you might expect, but it allows you to focus 100% on gameplay which is obviously it's best attribute. Just screaming around these rooms jumping and sliding and bullet timing and shooting and kicking dudes feels great.

Also Rider's Republic. This game owns and is probably my favorite game with multiplayer in a long long time, probably since Deep Rock Galactic came out. It's an open world extreme sports game (I wouldn't call it simulator as it very much leans towards the absurd and impossible) with tons of different sports to engage in. There's downhill bike racing, slopestyle for trick battles, and road biking, downhill ski racing and trick battles, rocket wing and wingsuits, and some other wacky poo poo like jet powered skis and bicycles and stuff.

The racing is fantastic and deceptively deep and the trick system is the perfect balance of challenge and ease. There's these mass races with 60 real players that are so stupid and weird but incredibly fun all the same. Really good game especially if you ride bikes/ski or snowboard in real life or like watching that stuff. I'm thinking of making a thread but I'm not sure if anyone else is playing.

Jarvisi posted:

My most confusing battle brothers thoughts are what is the point of different weapons and how should I be building people?

One of the things I love about Battle Brothers is that there are no simple answers. Almost everything has a place, and mastery of the game comes from knowing what's going to be useful where - knowing how to build your party for the contracts you're taking, or knowing how to take contracts for the party you've built. The downside is there aren't exactly any easy build guides that can be succinctly shared. In general you want every character to start off with a shield and a 1h spear (or flail if their attack is high or the enemy has shields) until they've leveled up, got some higher stats and selected a weapon perk.

Each weapon type has a different strength and different attacks.

Daggers don't cost any fatigue to carry as a backup weapon and they let you use an attack called Puncture which deals HP damage but does not damage armor - to loot an enemy's armor you want to keep the armor at 100% durability so that's the primary use of daggers, stealing armor. It's common to carry backup daggers on most units and throw a 'dagger party' for enemies wearing very fancy armor. You can for example use flails to conk them in the head repeatedly (damaging/destroying helmet) while your party shanks them like Caesar until they die and leave their nice senate robes behind.

1-hand Swords get a hit chance bonus but have lower armor penetration than other weapons.
2-hand Swords have ridiculously high damage and aoe attacks but their attacks cost a ton of fatigue

Maces (1-hand and 2-hand) have attacks with a high chance to stun and they deal a lot of armor damage. Most 2-handed maces also apply Daze

Flails ignore enemy shields AND have an attack that is guaranteed to hit the head, plus they have a higher chance to hit the head in general.

Spears have a very high hit chance bonus and can use Spearwall (Attack any enemy approaching you, if you hit they take damage and get knocked back. If you miss effect is over). 2-handed spears can hit 2 tiles away.

Axes do good damage, can target shields directly and deal extra damage when they hit heads. They have some aoe as well.

How you want to build each unit and what weapon you want to give them is largely a factor of their stats and potential, and/or your current point in the game, what equipment is available to you, etc. A character with low potential defense but high potential fatigue should be built as a tank to wear heavy armor and a shield and a 1h spear/1h flail. A character with high potential defense, health and attack should be built to use a non-reach 2-hander. A person with high potential attack but low potential defense and preferably some Resolve or something should be built to use a reach melee weapon from the back. A very high Initiative character can become a powerhouse by taking Dodge and wearing light/no armor if you can keep them alive and level them up.

Archers and ranged characters are very good if they are highly skilled and useless if they're not, so avoid hiring ranged characters that don't have great starting stats/stars.

Perk-wise, you almost always want Colossus in tier 2 (at least on anyone who will take hits) because it gives 25% more HP, and injuries happen when you take a certain percentage of your total health in damage. More health = less injuries. You want at least one high-resolve person with Hold the Line (to unlock a company banner). Beyond that it's been a long time since I've played and I mostly played with mods so I don't want to give more detailed advice.

Avoid non-human enemies as much as you can until you know what you're doing - wolves and spiders are fine, but undead and orcs and all the weird monsters will gently caress you up if you're not built for what they'll throw at you. If you have the DLC then be very careful of the Duelists in the south as well, they don't look scary but they will solo your entire team if you don't have something to counter them.

I'm sure there's a much more comprehensive post about it somewhere in the Battle Brothers thread.

Dang you got me excited because I figured only the suckers people who paid for the $100 version got to play early and it looks like that's still sort of the case here. I was looking for a Rider's Republic thread so you're not the only one playing. I've been having a lot of fun with it too. The world is massive and pretty much anything you do to engage with the game is fun. You can explore the world and find vista spots a la GW2. You have access to bikes, snowboards, skis, winguits, jet packs and more. You can switch to whichever way you want to traverse the land/air instantly. This allows you to fly in a wingsuit over the cables of a ski lift, switch to snowboard and land a grind on the cables, flip off the cables, switch to bike and perform a mid flip superman before landing. There are a lot of races for each sport to go through and since the world is so huge there is a great variety of courses to race on. The multiplayer mass races and the tricks team deathmatch are a lot of fun. If anyone cares there is MMR to gain in the "pvp" modes (FFA race and TDM tricks). The game feels like a bit of a sleeper since it's so fun but it's $60 and on Epic sooo.

Was the FH3 DLC bad? I bought FH4 well after launch and enjoyed the DLC quite a bit, but I got it half-off on sale and I jumped into it pretty quickly. Had I been playing FH4 since launch I feel like I probably would have been a little burned out on it by the time the DLC released. I'm having a good time with Rider's Republic too but I find myself stricken with choice paralysis whenever I boot it up. I usually end up bombing some hills on a bike and it's definitely good fun but nothing is standing out as the defining activity to do in the game. The bike/skii/snowboard mechanics are by far the strongest but neither feels like they'd stand on their own if you really didn't care for one or more of the sports. I'm on Uplay+ right now to play rear end Creed Vikings so it's a good secondary game to play during that time but don't really see myself getting it outside of a deep sale.

I actually really like how they did the trick system, although so far I only use racer preset. x to b or b to x does a spin either way, y to a or a to y does frontflips and backflips, then every other combination is a rodeo/twister/cash roll etc depending on which direction you start the off-axis spin. Ski/snowboard tricks are the saem.

The twisters are rad on the bike, and I think slopestyle bike is probably my favorite event since they have better tricks like tailwhips and barspins and suicide no handers. But I also like the racing.

As far as events, generally I just scan the map and choose the first one I come across which I haven't done. Of any sport. Then I try and beat the special objectives which get you extra stars, that's kind of most of the game for me.

Mass races are fun as well though. So stupid but so fun.

Basically it's just a type of game that has never been before which is why I like it so much. Probably wouldn't like it AS much if there were actually good alternatives out there but there really aren't.
