i liked the extra semester in 5R P5 is less about "bad twists" and more that the whole game is excessively uneven where the first chapter is some of the best stuff in the game but a lot of the rest is just weirdly paced and messy and

I don't mean to imply that the localizers were under an obligation to do what they did, or to do more, or that the even worse original text is somehow more acceptable to a Japanese audience when it really does just seem to be Hashino's weird fuckin thing. I do understand why the localizers made the changes they did, though, and the "I wish they had cut the scenes entirely" was about P5R as a whole and not specifically the localization.
