Exploration is ill-advised.
It's cargo cult economics for the worst of the true believers, which is especially fun because that's a cargo cult of a cargo cult. The levels of irony in that are difficult to properly explain.

Actually it's very plausible that everyone involved in Monkey Jizz were all perfectly rational actors.

I feel like that Monkey Jizz thing is like a messed up Libertarian version of the just world hypothesis where a scammer who has been "doxxed" couldn't possibly do a rug pull because then the hidden hand of the free market would conjour a team of crack assasins who would immediately headshot him. So a "doxxed" scammer paradoxically turns into the most trustworthy human beings.

That's from the psychological point of view but I have to assume that scammers work on empiricism determining what works and what doesn't to milk the greatest amount of mooks.

You and the poster above have convinced me to try it first tonight! I’ve never played Alan Wake but can go in cold to a stand-alone for just the experience because I usually play every game that way, except mmo’s (played EQ & WoW first day, and while getting the exact name you want is great, most mmo launches are login clusterfucks). I’ll probably play it at around 11:30pm Central unless I actually sleep (lol, sleep). I won’t ruin the game with spoilers, but I’ve never gotten a 100% completion in any game ever even though I at least try to see an ending these days. Alt endings are all on YouTube anyways :agesilaus:

What's even worse is they think buttecosystem is, in any way INNOVATIVE! Anything that any part of bitcoin does was a non-problem solved up to 30 years ago! Nobody is making a career out of solving Fermat's Last Theorem because it was already solved and lauded. A decade of 1700's math research to solve it is simply a waste of time and brainpower from really intelligent people to figure out turbulence or new alloys or smaller batteries or etc. "I can build your widgets at double the current costs and four times the manpower with a way to take a week longer per unit" is not a selling point. Except for the un-Banked savages and dirty people in S. America and Africa, maybe (and the lady making bread on her front step needs mosquito nets and clean water in peace, not a Goddamn birdbathcoin)!

She already sold the extra loaf of bread on her M-Pesa account on her iPhone 11 mini, at any rate. With her dignity intact.

This is great EA and Ubisoft are going to finally get with the times and put NFTs in games. I bet industry leaders like these will be able to silence the doubters here who say it doesn't do anything you can't already do with an SQL instance and that it's a (bad) solution looking for a problem.

In an earnings call this week, EA boss Andrew Wilson called NFTs and so-called "play-to-earn" games were an "important part about the future of our industry", but added, "it's still early to figure out how that's going to work".

This screams “we are running out of money and are slapping buzzwords in our press releases to see if we can drum up some rubes to boost our stock price”.

This is just like the company I worked for that was owned by a venture capital fund: when the idiot owners (who were a bunch of dumb-poo poo rich people) would come for their meetings, the bosses would spam bullshit about “leveraging A.I. to help us meet strategic objectives” in the presentations. Not a soul in the company had a clue what A.I. is let alone how to use it, but it sure made the rich people feel good.

The rich people then would tell management to cut jobs and produce more product to make them more money, and the company ended up getting run into the ground as they were denied any funds for automation but somehow thought they could buy some human slaves to work in a lab environment. Venture capitalists are insanely stupid people.

The most efficient system of resource allocation for production is insanely stupid people funding things they can't understand.

I briefly worked on a start-up before quitting when I realized the founders were too stupid to understand why their product was impossible. They had a dream of being millionaires were convinced a square payment gateway knock-off was the way to go.

Through sheer persistence they managed to get backers and funding, brought on some other smart engineers who also told them the product was impossible, but with backers already on the hook they made a pivot to a much more scaled back product and sold the company a few years later. I don't think they became millionaires, given their equity and the sale price it probably worked out to a fairly middling salary for their few years work.

Semantically, "you" is both singular and plural, though syntactically it is always plural. It always takes a verb form that originally marked the word as plural.

Also, there is no plural when the context is an argument with an individual rather than a group. Somfin shouldn't put words in my mouth.
What’s so irritating about it is that it’s such a blatant scam that it boggles the mind. Tether alone is just… how. How can anyone look at Tether and think, oh, okay this is legitimate!

I honestly think that the internet has ruined people to the point that they are completely incapable of making rational decisions or exercising the smallest amount of critical thought.

Why can’t people ever be scammed into good things? Why is it always something bigger and dumber no matter what? Fuuuuuuck

I think a lot of the current situation is due to an interaction of being in late stage capitalism as well as having several generations who have internalized capitalism to a practically religious degree, who cannot comprehend or imagine anything other than neoliberal capitalism at this point. That, and/or a degree of naivete or ignorance that allows them to be unaware of the ongoing decline that's part of late stage capitalism.

I used to be sad for a 400lb Silverback gorilla male because I learned on National Geographic that gorilla penises are smaller than 2” as adults.

Then I quickly thought that a 400lb human male would probably be so fat his penis would be smaller than 2” as well.

I would be gentle and timid, too.
