Yeah I'm a bit of a rat nerd and that was a really cool read. I've never tried the roadkill/brat and want to get one now.

I have a couple of rats and to me the one with the lm308 does sound better - slightly darker overall - but whether that is to do with the chip or individual part tolerance in general I have no idea. I like to think it's because the box is bigger.

I've been digging into my man Takanaka's discography on youtube. This album is pretty chill and has a samba version of the Star Wars theme, as you do in 1978: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOX9LQ6v73w

Aaaaaand there's the second guitar company to get in on the grift. I'll just keep getting more and more disappointed each time another one comes up. I clicked through on the wave one and thus far only 7 of 30 have sold at $100 a pop. Not exactly flying off the shelf as it were.

Where's your god now?

Can somebody explain to me what this is? I admit that the idea of NFTs are kind of bewildering to my GenX brain, but I had always understood that they’re attached to/associated with digital works make them unique and unreproducible(?). But a guitar is a real object that exists in the physical world. What does the sucker who buys one of these get? Is it a picture of a guitar? Are there people out there willing to pay $100 to download a picture of a guitar?

Spanish Manlove

Yes except you don't download the picture of the guitar, you just say you own that picture of the guitar.

Turbinosamente

Is it a picture of the guitar? I thought it was owning a share of the guitar itself. Gibson at least had the civility to say you totally own stock in this Slash prototype we're keeping in a special vault for the investors. But if it's just a picture then that's extra lol.

Is it really a pyramid scheme when there's only one level though? Isn't the business model something like:

1. Provide NFT
2. Take money from people
3. Given them the blockchain generated code thingy that says they are the owner of this NFT
4. Profit, but just for you the NFT maker.

Or am I just parroting internet hearsay? I have yet to hear of anybody reselling an NFT they bought for big money too.

Basically this, but the owner can resell it. It's comparable to a hockey card. I think the tech has novel applications, but this whole ultra expensive collectibles wave where people drop hundreds of thousands to be the proud owner of

... is mostly because tons of wealthy people have been sitting around with nowhere to spend their disposable income lately.

Casey Finnigan

Dumb ✔
So goddamn crazy ✔
I mean the basic idea would be that you buy an NFT and since it's "unique" it might appreciate in value like a rare trading card or something. I assume all the huge amounts of money thrown around for them amount to either money laundering or dumb rich people wanting to spend money on something. So it's basically just a regular scam

The pyramid (or really ponzi) scheme is cryptocurrency, where you want to buy and hold crypto so that you can profit from it when other, later investors also buy crypto and drive the price of it up. NFTs are paid for in crypto so it's all wrapped up in the same big scam bundle

Even better. It’s just money laundering:

I'm only half-way through this. I am stopping by to say that, yes, I am now about to google search for an image of Lenny Kravits' balls hanging out or whatever this dude is taking about.

I hate to use the cliches for this video. It's not just funny, it's smart funny and the guy is addressing actual musical arrangement decisions in an intelligent, if tongue-in-cheek way. So, that was my serious post, but what I really mean is who the gently caress is this dude, who does he write and produce with, and how is he so goddamned funny? Like, this guy is hitting some deep-ish cuts and the production is very "theater of the mind" which is making it even funnier. Not to mention the great terrible graphic art. This poo poo is fantastic. I have a song cooking (sent it off to my bassist buddy this morning), a shitload of practicing to do, and Forza Horizon 5 is out. I do not have 50 minutes to watch some rando on YouTube but yeah I am making the time.

The final tie-breaker that Fly Away was in a whole series of inescapable ads was the my own reason for the winner from the very start, and I'm so glad he expressed that.

I don't know if it needed 50 minutes, but given my own level of hate for both I totally understood why he felt the need.

got recommended a video by the notorious guitar master Music Is Win where he reacts to a WatchMojo list of songs that are hardest to play on the guitar. figured, what the hell, i haven't really watched his content beyond That One Horrible Song, maybe he's alright. couldn't go past the first song of the list :smith:

it's This Charming Man by The Smiths. not only he apparently has never heard of it (which is fine, but a bit odd coming from a Guitar Guy), he for some reason decides to figure it out by ear. then, he proceeds to absolutely loving butcher the guitar part live on camera (i guess to show off his skills or something). then he says "done :smug:"

the whole experience made me feel things i didn't necessarily want to feel, which is why i'm sharing it here. i'm sorry :smith:
