So you have Russian seperatists who want Ukraine to be Russia, who are the ones supporting the Donbas seperatists in Donetsk and Luhansk, and the Ukrainians who want Ukraine to a) Ukraine and b) closer to Europe. It’s not black and white because the Russians are pro-putin and the Ukrainians are fighting alongside people like Azov, so there are no ‘good guys’ as such. It’s extremely complicated and doesn’t fit into the left v right dichotomy that works in the west.

Ugh not going to share it but Julie Bindell had posted a truly insane screed on Twitter saying that anyone calling themselves queer who isn't gay or lesbian should be expelled from the country. Naturally the other terves are loving loving it. I'm a straight man but it truly terrifies me that these people seem to be happily laying the groundwork for fascism.

Yes, the whole point of 'queer' is that it's an all encompassing term for a wide variety of sexual and gender identities. Though it doesn't really surprise me that they're suddenly going out to bat for a term can can still be controversial in the community for its historical use as a slur. I assume that reinstating it as one is the next port of call.
