One of my fiancee's cats went missing for like 2 years and one day Wally just rolls right back up to her back door, meowing to be let in, looking about as good as she had when she left. She figures someone let her in their house and so Wally stayed there for a while until she got bored and wanted to come back home.

I've seen a lot of vet videos lately where they use them to distract the cats while they do stuff like give injections or clip nails. Cats litterally dont give a poo poo about anything else in the world until that tube is empty.

Aren't sea snakes like horrifically venomous?
|
# ? Nov 9, 2021 04:18 |

They are but they don't often bite humans, and when they do they don't always inject venom.

Yeah, that snake is just like, huh do I want to climb up onto this thing, nah it has a noisy bro on it. It's just minding its own business. In general, most venomous snakes have very little interest in picking a fight. There are exceptions, but generally snakes see us as predators to be avoided, not attacked. Don't gently caress with them, though, just in case.

Kwyndig posted:They are but they don't often bite humans, and when they do they don't always inject venom. Google seems to point to this being an Olive sea snake, which is a friendly, curious sea snake that dines on crustaceans and fish eggs. Fancy! Caviar, crab, and lobster! They’re totes venomous though. Also, don’t go scuba diving during mating season on their territory. Males may mistake you for a fleeing female, loop around your limbs, and bite. quote:Divers that flee from snakes may inadvertently mimic the responses of female snakes to courtship, encouraging males to give chase. To prevent escalation of encounters, divers should keep still and avoid retaliation. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-021-94728-x Nothing mentioned about envenomation. Edit: apparently many male sea animals attempt to mate with humans due to poor eyesight, if you get to the end of the article. It’s pretty funny. Bored has a new favorite as of 06:32 on Nov 9, 2021 |

From that study, it seems that olive sea snakes a pretty cool if you are not actively trying to play with or annoy them. But yeah. Thinking animals are awesome will probably lead to both of our deaths.
