One of my fiancee's cats went missing for like 2 years and one day Wally just rolls right back up to her back door, meowing to be let in, looking about as good as she had when she left. She figures someone let her in their house and so Wally stayed there for a while until she got bored and wanted to come back home.

I assume it's the same basic stuff as Webbox Lick-e-Lix which might be the stupidest name any product has ever had. It's meat puree in a squeezy tube and my cat goes *insane* over it, to the point where I literally have to put unopened packs of it in a metal lock box because he will destroy any more fragile container that he knows contains it.

I've seen a lot of vet videos lately where they use them to distract the cats while they do stuff like give injections or clip nails. Cats litterally dont give a poo poo about anything else in the world until that tube is empty.

Aren't sea snakes like horrifically venomous?

Kwyndig

They are but they don't often bite humans, and when they do they don't always inject venom.

Yeah, that snake is just like, huh do I want to climb up onto this thing, nah it has a noisy bro on it. It's just minding its own business.

In general, most venomous snakes have very little interest in picking a fight. There are exceptions, but generally snakes see us as predators to be avoided, not attacked.

Don't gently caress with them, though, just in case.

Google seems to point to this being an Olive sea snake, which is a friendly, curious sea snake that dines on crustaceans and fish eggs. Fancy! Caviar, crab, and lobster!

They’re totes venomous though. Also, don’t go scuba diving during mating season on their territory. Males may mistake you for a fleeing female, loop around your limbs, and bite.

quote:

Divers that flee from snakes may inadvertently mimic the responses of female snakes to courtship, encouraging males to give chase. To prevent escalation of encounters, divers should keep still and avoid retaliation.

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-021-94728-x

Nothing mentioned about envenomation.

Edit: apparently many male sea animals attempt to mate with humans due to poor eyesight, if you get to the end of the article. It’s pretty funny.

There’s data in that article that says that olive sea snakes, when not looking for a hookup, do tend to come over to check out humans and boats as soon as they notice them.

Apparently the olive sea snakes in the study that mistook divers for lady sea snakes only bit things that were reflective during their misguided wooing attempts. From that study, it seems that olive sea snakes a pretty cool if you are not actively trying to play with or annoy them.

But yeah. Thinking animals are awesome will probably lead to both of our deaths.
