I'm not sure a clam works because the little neck they shoot out is absolutely slimy. Like think of a geoduck since they are just big honking clams. The part the extrudes to the outside is super slimy.

Now, what about sea urchins? Their outside can be a little slimy because they live in the sea but if I crispred up a bunch of urchins to go on land, they'd be dry. They don't exude a mucus.

Also, frogs don't have slime. They have mucus. Princess Tiana taught me that.

Aristocrats are always changing standards for their benefit.

Peasants have to work outside in subsistence agriculture? Being fat and pale is good.

Peasants have to work inside in office buildings? Being skinny and tanned is good.

Inside their shell or inside their body?

In the snail example, the shell is dry and the slime is on the fleshy part that's inside. Clams work the same way. We need something that lives in a shell but is dry on the non-shell parts and has no legs.

I think the sea urchin is probably the best example, since while it can have slimy parts, they are hard to get to and thus the parts you can touch aren't slimy.

Is there something like a legless armadillo?

Would coral count as sufficiently nonslimy?

Or maybe a glass sponge?

I'd count coral as nonslimy but they have tentacles. Glass sponge seems like it would fit the bill. Better than my sea urchin too because the spines have a ball joint and that feels close to a leg to me.

At its heart, life is all just chemical and ion gradients. Your consciousness is made up of electrical impulses caused by sodium and potassium atoms being pumped across cell membranes by proteins.

*takes huge bong rip*

The slime just facilitates the gradients, man.

Barnacles have legs, that's what those feathery things they extend out into the water are. They're crustaceans!

(Sacculina barnacles don't have legs, but they probably do have slime, because they live in a crab and take over its brain)
