I had been using an Acer KU-0760 since it came out in late 2016 and recently, its spacebar stopped registering. I've been waiting for it to die so I can get a replacement anyway.

While I do play a few games on PC, I'm not a particular intense gamer and I prefer to play most games on a controller anyway. But I do write for a living, so I need something that's comfortable to type with and is ideally an ISO layout, since that's what I'm used to. I don't personally mind the overly clicky blue switches, but I would find them distracting and I live in a house with others, and I do most of my writing at night, when everyone else has gone to bed. I've been told that I'd probably prefer brown switches the most but my local computer retailer didn't have any examples handy.

Cost isn't really an issue, but I also don't need a ton of extra buttons or any fancy bells and whistles. I don't need any fancy RGB nonsense but I don't mind if I can just turn them off. If possible, I'd prefer to buy off Newegg since they accept Paypal. And finally, I'd strongly prefer a wired keyboard.

I'm looking through Newegg's options and the Rosewill RK-9000V2 or the Akko 3087 might be good fits for me, but I'd like to know what the thread thinks, since you're all more knowledgeable about keyboards than I am.

Akko all the way! Rosewill is a definite level down imo. That price sucks as well:

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=akko+3087&ref=nb_sb_noss_2

I just got this Akko 3068B with Jelly Blue switches. It's got BT, wireless USB, and wired. RGB, hotswap, big battery, etc. I actually really like it a lot! Feels tight and good.

It's already been said, "whatever you want" but specifically they're great for key combos or application specific shortcuts like scenes in OBS, or actions in CAD/Fusion, or Photoshop, etc... Pairs nicely with relegendable keycaps so then you don't have to actually remember the shortcuts or which keys do what.

Dis is amazing!
I gotta try dis!

This is kind of an oddball question, but I figure the folks here may be able to narrow this down more quickly than me looking at pictures of random keycap sets and searching blindly for the make of a keycap set. On my Durgod Fusion keyboard the space bar has a slight rounding on the side facing me where my thumb rests. I really like it since it means no pointy edge where my thumb joint sort of rests. My Durgod K320 has the normal sharpish edge. I did some searching but couldn't find a specific make or type of keycap set that has the rounded over space bar edge. Is there a brand that makes them like that for all of their keycaps? I'm interested in getting some sets or just space bars if I can figure out who makes them.

Here's the durgod fusion product picture for reference, you can kind of see that space is molded to have the softer edge towards the middle:

Domikeys spacebars have that rounded front edge (at least their Cherry profile does, I dunno about their SA stuff)

I put their Dolch set on my GMMK Pro and I like it a lot

Yeah that must be where durgod sourced the space bars (well the keycap sets), and with that advice I found a reddit post praising the domikeys cherry profile spacebars for the same reason:
https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/owidfc/the_best_spacebar_ever_domikey/

Very cool, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Genuine GMK has the rounded front edge as does Signature Plastics DCS.
The Durgod Fusion has OEM profile keycaps from an unnamed manufacturer, while the K320 has OEM from a different unnamed manufacturer.

maybe we aren't talking about the same thing?
Top to bottom Signature Plastics DCS, Novelkeys Doubleshot PBT, Enjoy PBT, Infinikey, GMK

I guess I was thinking of the overall roundedness of the top of the spacebar not the edge itself.
Of all the ones pictured, DCS has both the most rounded profile and edge itself.

Also, a lot of people will just flip the spacebar. If your thumb normally rests on the edge of the spacebar, flipping the spacebar makes your thumb rest entirely on the curved top surface.

Hi all! I am new to the Wide World of Mechanical Keyboards, and have a question. I've got a durgod taurus k320 and I'd like to replace the keycaps. I noticed people talking about Akko earlier, and they've been recommended to me before. I also found this person who makes custom key caps. The particular set in the link meets my needs as far as keycap profile. I know going with a small seller vs an established brand like Akko is always a gamble, but thought I'd dump this in here to see what y'all think.

this is the keycap set I am thinking of getting,

Nvm, going with Akko! Opinions are still welcome, of course.

If it's a hot-swap, it's likely that pins bent on a few of the switches when you put them in. You can pull them out, straighten out the pins, and put em back in and you should be fine.

Board looks really nice, congrats!

You can buy an aftermarket Frog TKL for about the same price as a Mr Suit and throw some PE foam in it like everybody has been doing since the Jelly came out. Frog, IMO, is a much better designed board -- aesthetics aside as that is pretty subjective -- and the Frog has a lot more room for customizing typing feel.

As someone who owns a jelly and has tried a Mr Suit, just buy some PE foam off Amazon and shove it into any board and you'll get 90% of the way there. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FMQPNZ...ef_=as_li_ss_tl

Note that I am not responsible if it bricks your PCB by shocking it.

Frog TKL is also really hard to get; the monthly drops sell out in a couple minutes if you're lucky.

Frogs on Mechmarket have been selling between $450-$500, some as low as $425. Given that Mr Suit, at cost, is $400-ish, the aftermarket Frogs are still a good deal if you can't get one from one of the Swagkeys drops.
