Joe Biden entered high school in the 50s and graduated college in the 60s. He has no sympathy for the whining kids that want to pretend that the 60s-70s-80s were easier than the 90s-2000s-2010s! They don't know what real hardship is! You try working part time at a diner and affording a 4 year college education! You try raising a family of four and owning your own home with a factory worker salary! You try having the equivalent a 50% higher minimum wage!

Hey, their parents got to be unapologetically racist for their WHOLE LIVES and they only got to appreciate that privilege until, like, 1995.

How dare you besmirch them! They invented the piano necktie bought ranch houses back when they were cheap and sat on them for 20-30 years! They put in track lighting and a bay window and now it's worth half a million dollars! They're financial geniuses! What have YOU done, Derek?!?! NOTHING! YOU'VE DONE NOTHING!

I'll be back
same mindset as "if we nuke each other back to the feudal age or earlier, the one which retains the highest population will come to dominate!!" or whatever. iirc the military's been on this poo poo for a while, they've put out a bunch of reports over the past decades assuming that climate change fucks things up and working out how to stay on top in that situation. a system that cannot think long-term or outside its model of how the world works; cooperation cannot exist, rivalry is the natural state of human society, one weird trick to assure dominance in a dying world means death victory is certain

I'm in a pretty bougie here, most of the homes are huge and are all white boomers. Everyone has a second house (since this is MN it's always a cabin up north). My neighbor also had jet skis, and he recently told me that he spent 10k

I finally caught up with some of the content recommended by this thread.

I watched "Planet of the Humans" and it was good. It was very much like Bright Green Lies in content, but delivered in a much more compelling manner. I would still have liked more data, fewer anecdotes, fewer 'gotcha' questions, but it was good enough.

I also watched this about Abrupt climate change, it was fascinating and rather compelling. Also scary. I love the constant dunking on miami though
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRs4kIthJ9k

And finally i watched this. Also very good! It gets a bit weirdly theoretical at points but otherwise is very compelling, and gives me the strongest sense that this was always inevitable

lol, had this book been mentioned here before?

I had these thoughts a few days ago while watching a random bad zombie video.

I dont think many books were written about doomsday stuff pre-industrialization(outside of religious contexts anyway) while nearly every major franchise these days is either a complete dream world(Marvel/DC) with doomsday flavoring, or just full out doomsday scenarios with various trends(zombies, climate, asteroids, nukes, big rear end monsters appearing from other realms/aliens).

Anyway, further proof ive never had nor will ever have an original thought.
