I am really, really sorry to hear that. I didn't know it would hit me this hard - I've been here for almost 22 years, my original account can legally drink in the USA. Complex, difficult people make really good things sometimes. The entire modern history of popular media tells us this, and no matter how much the “everything is politics now” crusader types wish it weren’t so, frequently the type of ego it takes to create notable things on a national/worldwide scale is also the type of ego that does not lend itself to passing a Good Person Purity Test. Regardless, his was a far too common story in America, e.g. a legitimate need for pain relief devolving into addiction. How much of that had an influence on the behavior which got him exiled, IDK, it’s more than plausible to think that the habit just amplified the worst traits that were already present. His privilege and his mom’s bankroll let him maintain for a long time, but addiction is no respecter of persons. He was a miserable, reprehensible bastard in his personal life, but put out immeasurable good in public. I’m not saying Lowtax was MLK, but yeah okay I am saying Lowtax was basically MLK and I don’t know how to accept that.
