I just had a cup of chocolate atole (champurrado, apparently?) - or at least the "Norwegian kitchen at night" version. Quite nice, and as a bonus I'm also no longer hungry.

Something like this:

In a small saucepan, add
- bit under a cup of water. 2/3 cup?
- corn flour, maybe a heaped tablespoon depending on how thick you want it
- some cocoa powder to taste, I used a very heaped teaspoon
- a chunk of cinnamon to taste
- pinch of salt

Boil for a little bit, you want it to thicken and the flour grains to soften. It burns easily; stir continuously.

Fish out the cinnamon so you don't accidentally drink it.
Add some dark chocolate - I used one strip of baking chocolate, so 25g.
Stir until dissolved
Top up with milk (whole, or even cream) until it looks like a full cup

Serve in a cup with a spoon.

Normally, there's sugar in there (I guess Mexican piloncillo, but any brown sugar would probably be fine), but this seems more than sweet enough. Presumably the traditional recipes use unsweetened chocolate, or maybe it's just supposed to be really sweet?

I know what I'm doing tonight

The only one of my dogs that cares about wind is somewhat ironically the one that absolutely fearless about everything else. She stares down coyotes, keeps her eyes on the skies when the little one is pooping in case the hawks get any ideas, but if there’s anything more than a decent breeze blowing she nopes back into the house right quick.

Hey 1000 page thread (the hardest working thread on the forums), I'm going to make lunch for my folks tomorrow and I would love some ideas. I make my own bacon, and this batch is particularly good, so I was thinking of some bacon-related meal.

While a well-crafted BLT would be baller, it's probably too much for them to handle - unless it was a deconstructed version but I don't think I want to go there.

Some other ideas I've been considering are:
lasagna with bacon filling
peirogies with onion and bacon
bacon and cheese galette

What do you think? Any other suggestions?

I agree they def reheat well, but I don't think we're going to get to that point.

Actually, that's a really good idea - make some extra for additional meals

I could finally be the favorite child!!!

My friend used to randomly drop of pierogi on my porch when I lived in Detroit, I ended up having like two dozen in the freezer and we have a big ol' pierogi party when I moved out

Those bacon dishes sound good

I like roasted asparagus which can go with bacon and eggs. Usually just chop up hard boiled egg and bacon, then drizzle some kind of creamy sauce on everything (bechamel or whatever you want)

Not one to hand, but it's oil, bacon (well, pancetta, but whatever), eggs, parmesan and a tonne of garlic.

this recipe seems fine, as does this one, but honestly I'd just eyeball the quantities (and maybe add a bit of chopped parsley to the egg mix)

Can I offer a suggestion for pieroges?
As they're finishing, sprinkle with bleu cheese crumbles just enough so that the heat is enough to soften the cheese without goopifying it. Bacon and bleu is excellent and in this dish I think would work perfectly, unless one or more are you are adverse.
