The MK3 Supra had a Super Monitor option that would let you get MPG info, codes, stuff like that.

Cadillac and Oldsmobile Northstar cars had a trip computer that could be set to display codes.

Can you guess what Olds called it? You ready?

My old Z31 had flashing lights on the ECU itself for the codes. The dash display would have been nice and save getting into the kick panel and pulling it. God knows that thing had as many digital displays as the space shuttle.

Yeah, my S14 read out engine codes by turning a screw on the back of the ECU fully clockwise/counter-clockwise and then reading the pulses of a little LED.

I eventually got some little OBD scan cable with a serial to USB converter to read codes on my laptop.

GM did it for years by shorting two pins of the ALDL diagnostic connector.

Yeah, I keep a paperclip in my 88 Fiero to short those pins together. The check engine light blinks a certain number of times for specific things, and will display multiple codes in sequence. I think it flashes a certain number of times (five?) to confirm, three times, then it starts flashing each code, again repeating those three times before moving on. If you've got a bunch of issues, I hope you have some time on your hands.

My 1990 e30 had something similar but I don't remember how it worked... turn key to ACC, pump the accelerator five times or something?

GM still called the info display in the dash that on my brother in law’s Chevy Cobalt, as I recall.

Tail lights/rear pass window say Suburban but lift gate confuses me. Was that an option or the way they would come then opposed to the swing outs?

Regardless, that driveway kicks rear end.

Yeah, I'm mostly going by the body shape down the side and the tail lights. I'm also going entirely on fuzzy memory so......

Yep. I think barn doors were more common (they seem to be more common in survivors, at least) but that's definitely a burb.

those themed bikes/costumes are always cool but i can't imagine doing more than like 30 on one. especially cause that looks like a hard tail and springers. i can't really tell from the grainy pic either but i don't think that's a v-twin so weird engine choice too

'busa swap a car? Bruv, I have ascended. Double 'busa V8.

quote:

One of the quickest Monsters in European HillClimb Racing, Dan Michl´s Lotus Elise V8 had a very successful 2021 Season and is sporting its most evolved spec ever. This is not a new Monster in European HillClimb Racing by any means, being the product of over 10 years of development and racing by Michl Motorsport. Using the Elise/Speedster chassis at its core, it is from that point on, a highly modified beast, with the most notable feature being the unique engine used.

Powered by a Hartley V8 unit in Naturally Aspirated form and now on 3.0L form, it is capable of 430Hp/11.000Rpm. For those unaware, this V8 is built using as base 2 Hayabusa Engine units and "fusing" them into a single engine. Of course it is way more complicated than that but in rough terms that is how this Dry-Sumped engine is built. And here it finds the perfect counterpart, in this mid-engined, 730Kg, carbon fibre bodied Monster that on 2021 is still as competitive as ever and always fighting for the Top spot among Touring Cars in each event it enters.

And that there is a masterclass of chassis setup. That just sits so well and looks utterly unflustered despite being so fast, and there's things like it's got some sort of homebrew paddleshift, I could geek out at everything other than the engine. Beautiful

Yes, that's a '68-72 Suburban. Dad had, and I drove quite a bit, a '72 GMC variant that had the hatch and tailgate arrangement. Mechanical supports on the hatch. Works really well, actually.

They decided to flip the motor around so the exhaust and intakes can be mirrored. The problem with this is that there are now timing belts on both sides of the motor, making it a service nightmare.

Yeah seeing the shifter cranking away despite there being no hand on it is very loving cool. You don't wanna paddle shift today? Just bang away on the sequential like you're back in the good old days.
