Watterson is also a legit awesome illustrator, his big ink & watercolor pieces are super good. Also he recently did a crossover thing with Bloom County.

These days Calvin is usually pissing on Joe Biden or Antifa or the concept of democracy, really Also I totally understand Bill Watterson's thoughts but it is objectively bad that he never allowed production of a Hobbes plush, speaking as someone who was a child through the entire run

in the very first week Davis did a Peanuts homage/riff/ripoff i can't find it right now, but Watterson did a caricature of Berk Breathed telling his characters to go out and make more money. (friendly ragging.) and for his part, Breathed did a strip in the 80s making fun of the incredibly cynical and lovely Pogo reboot. well, that's my story. god bless

I'm baffled that none of these huge companies with their brand marketing teams who purchased Garfield licenses for movies and tv shows and other big media products aren't doing anything about this crazy weirdo spouting to be the brand manager / deserved voice over artist / celibate lover of Garfield all over their social media efforts, because he paid to plaster the license on a pizza shop. Did Jim Davis split the sale rights so granuarly that there's gently caress all they can do about it? At any rate, big respect to the man for min maxing the profitablility of his franchise like that and I hope Mazri retains his license and keeps us entergaged for years to come.
