As someone who has nothing do do with America, there is a big difference between talking up China and talking up the DPRK. Yes, they are both opposed to the USA in a bunch of ways, but while China has a lot of success to point at to justify the less pleasant stuff, the DPRK is... well, like someone said upthread, a run-of-the-mill authoritarian little country, with poor overall standards of living.

But, because it is opposed to the USA, and almost certainly only because of that, there is this weird love for it itt.
