I sometimes wonder how the current media/entertainment that exists is going to effect the future fetishes of the current generation growing up. Is that a weird thing to think about? Like there's so much more weird stuff now that people get exposed to at an even younger age. In the future, are there going to be some adults with nostalgia for those weird spiderman elsa youtube videos?

Those are getting on in years, there probably already are.

I've always wondered if there's a meaningful population of furries who got into the fandom not because of any actual interest in anthropomorphic animals, but because it was the only place on the internet where their particular fetish was widely accepted. There have got to be some random vore/car- loving/diaper people who hooked up with furries out of convenience, right? (Maybe not diaper guys. Diaper guys sadly seem to have critical mass outside furry.)

I think the missing piece of the “first boner” theory is that the fetish object has to have some kind of connection to an emotion that is either related or adjacent to sex.

I think for sploshing that emotion is the thrill of breaking social norms, in this case playing with your food and making a mess, which is something that basically every kid gets told not to do at some point. I guess some of us are more affected by that than others?

I remember when I first heard the Extra Credit episode on the Sayonara Wild Hearts fic. I started listening to it without seeing any episode info. (In fact, I believe that it just auto-played while I was busy cleaning the house.) About halfway through I had to stop and look at my phone to figure out what was playing, because it felt like some extremely mediocre slice-of-life, slightly-too-horny literary fiction. When I finally realized who the story was about, I felt this deep sinking in my heart. Apparently, this is where we are now.

It wasn't the horniness that was the problem, though. It was the fact that the author felt the need to express that horniness through their parasocial besties and high-gloss anime characters.

Let me tell you about a fellow named Sherlock Holmes. Or, for a newer example, Kirk/Spock.

The craziest thing about the new Gilgamesh tablets that were found is that, despite being insanely ancient, they were still made hundreds of years after the original stories. So it's like someone in the year 3900 discovering the Kevin Costner Robin Hood movie.

A pet monkey who had watched his mistress fill her dildoe with cream, waited for a chance when she had ceased using it, being called away for a few minutes.

"Now," said he, "I will have my fill of cream," so he sucked away, but unfortunately the lady had contracted syphilis, and the monkey died in convulsions.

The moral of this fable is, that you should never suck dildoes.

You might be in luck. The website that hosts the copy of “The Pearl” that they used for that episode has what looks like an astounding amount of weird old poo poo.

Unfortunately their web design is also totally awful and hard to navigate. But if you start, like, here and click around between years / decades, I bet you can find some stuff worth reading.
