Powershift posted:It was mysteriously bid exactly up to my max bid which was still shy of the reserve. Feels a little like fuckery. The offer now goes to the owner, and i can't imagine they'll stick to the reserve over $150 on a sub-$1000 car. No, that's how it should work. Reserve is essentially the seller bidding against the buyer - if a bid comes in where the max bid is still below reserve, then it should be treated as if you went right to your max bid.

The max bid set by a buyer should only be used to determine whether their bid is higher than other buyer's bids. Their system shows i was bid up to exactly my max bid by the person who placed the first bid on it a few days ago.

No, it came over an hour later and wasn't an autobid. the 79 is me. my $800 autobid is further up on the list but the window size is limited. I've never bought anything at this auction house before and it just has me a little suspicious. e: doesn't matter anyways, seller wants the full reserve and i don't want it that bad. I'm going to slow bid stuff there in the future though. Powershift fucked around with this message at 21:45 on Nov 16, 2021 |

I hosed up and entered WAY too many Secret Santas this year lol. Thank god the Goons have their poo poo together and already got me my assignments for beer and car threads. anyway here's some weird quiche cup things: The center is a par-baked puff pastry so the egg comes out like more of a steamed egg and the center is this very interesting half gooey half crisp puff pastry.

I have personally always considered my dogs to be as much members of my family as any humans (and often preferably so), and so I don't consider losing them to be any less of a blow than losing any other person you love. I'm very sorry. I'm sure your doggo had as sweet a life as any dog could've had.

If it's anything like my emergency clay pipe-ectomy back in December '14, they know they've got you over a barrel and quote $100/foot to trench, re-pipe, and backfill the sewer line. I'd called 3 companies and only one was interested in coming out in the first place. And my neighbor (whose sewer we later learned was tied into mine above the collapse point & was the reason my basement was filling with shitwater) had the nerve to tell me they screwed me on the price. No poo poo they did, but my house was becoming unlivable. For 32k though, almost worth it to take a couple months off work to get a license to plumb & learn to operate a rental backhoe.

My house is only about 25' wide, and the pipe runs at a bit of an angle, exiting about 10' from where it starts, so... 30-35' of pipe, plus branches for the sinks and tubs? Looks like the itemized "40 feet" for tunneling is about right then. The sincere LOL is the single item of $16+K for, basically, "plumbing." blk posted:A friend of a friend of a friend looked at Craigslist car for me. Went to take the dogs out after dinner and found a mystery delivery from Aldi on our front porch. Crackers, bananas, bottled water, ring bologna, milk, cheese, crackers, and napkins and paper plates. Doesn’t belong to the neighbors, and Aldi/Instacart don’t have any policy about finding out who it belongs to, and just thanked me for my honesty and said I can do whatever I want with it. The super weird part is that my house isn’t easily visible from the road, and to get to my front porch you have to walk around from the driveway to the opposite side of the house. Wtf. I'm in an antibody study, should be getting called for another blood draw soon. It'll be interesting to see what my levels are at; on my first blood draw (couple of months ago) they were still pretty drat high, despite my original round of Moderna being in Feb and March.

Mustache, sorry about losing your best friend Doc’s favorite thing is playing in snow. He’s a lab(ish) and will forgo food for more snow time. Today is the first significant snowfall of the winter and he’s currently passed out after I got poo poo for sleep last night; I had the fun time of a sleep paralysis experience. A brief dream about the Amityville Horror house and I was in my bed, feeling like a demon was sitting on my chest and holding down my head. I tried to yell for help but couldn’t get anything out. That felt like it went on for a little bit before I woke up for real, freaked the gently caress out. That’s never happened before and I’d rather it not happen again.

Outside of sleep paralysis I’ve never really dreamt, so my standards for what happens when you're asleep are extremely low, but I think sleep paralysis isn't half bad once you've gone a few rounds with the devil himself* Sure, it feels like dying, you can't move, and all you want to do is scream for help, but there's shadow people surrounding you, and you have a demon crushing your chest, keeping you from being able to even whisper. But after a certain point it doesn't feel like dying, and after that the demon stops showing up, and then the shadow people leave. Eventually it's just you, and it becomes quite tranquil; sure you still can't move and you have no concept of time, but it's almost cozy. I wouldn't say I enjoy it, but it's not an unwelcome experience I'm an extreme example and I hope to god no one else gets to the point that sleep paralysis is a good thing. I was forced to adapt to it because one of my antipsychotics gave it to me nearly every night for about 4 hellish months and my current meds still make it happen a couple times a month, so yeahhhhhhh
