Oh heck, also, didn't kill 6 billion demons do an invisible fortress that the heroine traverses by spraying the blood of her enemies around? I think I was mixing those up, somehow.

They painstakingly mapped out a path through the invisible 3d maze with sparse use of breadcrumbing and paint, then when they were almost at the exit they get rushed by a million mooks and by the time they're done fighting the entire maze is coated with blood anyhow.

Unless the people involved are being deliberately wordy as character traits then e.g. they'd probably stick with "tether" over "cloud tether", and the 27 hours ahead of schedule bit can be completely removed since the unscheduled rainfall conversation with central explains it. Also their 8 9 10 monologue in general doesn't read like this has happened to them/they've messed up like this before. Thanks heaps for the critique! Very helpful stuff.
