I’ve noticed some playback issues disappear if I turn off Dolby vision on my X800M player. I’m reallllly trying to hold out for the VinSyn sale but I dunno if I can do it. The temptation of $10 uhd’s is strong.

It’s probably gotten worse recently due to everything w speculation etc. Aside from grabbing 3D releases, one of my OOP purchases was Take Shelter a couple years back. $30 or so but drat, worth it. Despite getting the LE for their ROBOCOP release, I really hope Arrow gets to do a UHD for it in the next couple years. I love that movie so much.

Not sure if anybody mentioned this yet, didn't see it if so, but that new Mad Max 2 the road warrior 4K is getting recalled by Warner due to some major audio issues. So you might want to hold off on that if you're planning on getting it.

The issue seems to be that they claimed to have included the original audio track, but they actually didn't so the only track on the disc is like a remastered version that fans of the movie are saying makes stupid unnecessary changes to it. It didn't make much difference to me, I'd only seen the movie a few times over the years so I didn't notice anything weird with the audio track. Seemed fine to me.

The only problem w Steelbooks is that they produce them for some dumbass movies. Like what person wants the Hitman’s Bodyguard in UHD and a collector’s case for extra money. But I can’t see them stopping because it makes idiots like me Day 1 releases cause I want that sweet rear end art.

Am I the only person that throws slipcases right into the trash with the cellophane? I only keep them if they have a gimmick like the American Psycho steelbook.

If they do something neat like are translucent and the art lines up with the art on the regular cover, I’ll keep them, otherwise they go right in the trash. I’m a huge sucker for lenticular covers but even with those I’ll remove them from the slipcover and glue them onto the regular case.

If I could go back in time and stash all the slip covers i've tossed in the years... it was way too late in the game for me to discover that they were worth anything. At least, fwiw, when i buy a disc at Best Buy or w/e these days and they come with slip covers, i hunt for the most busted up one since i'm just gonna toss it anyway.

I like slipcovers because I don't have to worry about my shelves being packed too tight, when that happens without slipcovers the plastic on the cases starts to bubble and warp and it looks like poo poo. The slipcover protects the case and prevents that from happening.

But limited edition covers from VS and other boutique labels are a loving goldmine. I think Shout Factory ones are decently sought after too.
