For the seasonal championships you need to place first in points. You get 20 for a win, 16 for second, etc down the pack. Usually you’ll need at least 2 wins and then either a 2nd or 3rd place because the same AI tends to lead the rest. This weeks trial is hard but very reliant on having the right car. I tried first with an X class Huyara with a “grip” tune and it was awful, sliding around the place, I think the creator has TCR on. Then I swapped to a slower s2 Ferrari FXX K with tons more actual grip and slaughtered all but one of the AI every race. I think it’s heavily car dependent, and being able to keep your speed up in the bends where the AI is slower is the key.

If you solo them it's all 3 races championship style, you have to provide your own transportation. For the last one the AI rigs starting grid depending on how you're doing (i.e. if you won both your rivals will be up front but you can probably finish 4th or better and be fine, if you had two meh finishes the points leaders will be at the very back of the grid, but you must end with a win). If you do them co-op it's trial style best two out of three and fast travels you between events.

Apparently if you’ve always taken a photo of that car it just won’t trigger at all. It really feels like the game needed another month or two of bug testing and polishing before release, but since they had to hit the 20th anniversary we got this instead. There’s a lot to like here, but the seasonal and online stuff still feels buggy as gently caress. In today’s What Were They Thinking episode, Horizon Arcade dropped me immediately into that enormous drift zone on the eastern volcano - the one that takes 3-4 minutes to even drive through and register a score. So the three of us had basically no chance whatsoever.

That too is ban-eligible. "E for Everyone" was a curious choice for this game. You can press the hamburger button while you have the championship highlighted on the festival screen to “show eligible cars” and it will display all the cars that you can actually use, even if it’s not a normal filter in the car list

Yeah, the trials not so bad, after a couple of bad runs where everyone brought X and S2, I joined a one where everyone brought an S1 car, and we stomped it easily. Just have to get lucky and end up in a group with none-idiots.

I think I unlocked a secret car or something. I was looking through the Porsches I had for one to upgrade for this week's speed zone, and I can't remember exactly what it was (I think a 2016-2018 Spyder of some variety,) but when I auto-upgraded it to "S2 998", it turned into some mid-950s different car with a 20th anniversary Xbox livery. It was great for the speed zone!
