RIP Virgil. His influence is impossible to overstate. If you're not familiar with his work, here's a really good breakdown of his Fall/Winter 2021 collection for Louis Vuitton, which has a lot to say about the nature of art and specifically the idea of referencing, copying or homaging others' work. Saul Williams and Yasim Bey are in it, so it's even thread-relevant. I think it's remarkable how much this fashion designer is saying in this runway show about our relationship to art and fashion. I'll admit that I didn't really know much about current fashion designers and the culture and context they exist in until pretty recently, and learning about Abloh's work kind of opened my eyes to the medium in general as it exists now.
