I don’t think that’s how toy lines used to work. They would make the toys and cartoon all at the same time, and if the toys all sold and the cartoon did well, they’d do another season and another line of toys. That led to the infamous poo poo like blackstar’s toy series coming out way after the cartoon came, failed, and went.

Or how the transformers movie and gi joe movie were both supposed to wipe the old line of toys out and hype the upcoming new toy line.

The economy of toy lines has proven to be an entertaining rabbit hole to go down on YouTube.

I was visiting some in-laws and their 11yo ipad kid son was talking about how he's been making $400 a day trading NFTs. He's been really into the whole roblox items trading thing for a while so I'm not too surprised. It was at that point that I realized that a huge portion of these people are probably age 8-12.

it's actually even dumber than that, they've made their own token specifically for the cartoon (distinct from BAYC) and holders are supposed to get a cut of revenue from the cartoon (lol)

It’s amazing when you realize that up until the creation of NFTs in the past few years, there has never been a way for people to share in the profit of a product

Pick it up? They'll just make their own. Everyone is just going to make their own NFTs of their shows now because turns out that to the people buying NFTs they're incredibly fungable!

I don't think so. I haven't read them either, but I've gathered they are stories about stuff like a guy who makes a metal alloy that is real good for railways or something. Guys who do useful things and also are huge assholes.

These folks are making nothing useful. They aren't genius Captains of Industry being held back by society. I don't think she wrote any books about guys making cartoon trading cards making her horny.

Exploration is ill-advised.
Ayn Rand's whole idea with Atlas Shrugged is being in love with the already entirely fictional idea of the billionaire superhero, like literally Scrooge McDuck and Bruce Wayne, I don't think she understood the idea that they like, pay people who trained to be scientists and engineers to make stuff.

It's the culmination of the just world fallacy through the libertarian lense. If markets make the best choices possible, and labor is a market, then those who become leaders of economic powerhouses are obviously the best possible people.

Never mind markets are just massively multiplayer plinko.

In a point of irony, libertarians will still make post hoc judgements of business and people succeeding in the market and decide they are not great after all and blame regulation. So it's hard to say if Bitcoin leaders are Randian supermen or reactionary parasites that are a direct result of SEC overregulation that would get outcompeted in a real market.

I mean, the whole irony of Ayn Rand is that Randian supermen are the parasites who leech the product of peoples’ labors. They just refuse to accept the truth of their existence.

Like imagine a flea on the back of a dog who gets so engorged and full of himself that he thinks, actually, the dog is the parasite even as he greedily sucks its blood. That’s what stupid libertarian assholes think.

In that sense, Bitcoin people are absolutely libertarian Randian Supermen. But Bitcoin people are absolutely not what libertarians believe Randian Supermen to be.

BTAF still shines on decades later as the best take on Atlas Shrugged.

Also Ayn Rand wouldn't have given two shits about NFTs in her later years she was too busy living on socialist welfare policies to care

I admit it. I'm reading Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. Why? A colleague at work gave me poo poo for mocking the book when I hadn't read it. My only, inadequte defense was that I'd read a screenplay based on the book, but that was not enough to justify myself. I'm reading it now and I will confess I'm enjoying it. I'm liking its plot-drivenness, its host of characters who get straight to the point. I'm reading it as a book, evaluating its entertainment. I'm also taking mental notes on its political philosophy but I'm intending to refrain on a summary judgment until I'm actually done. This far in I feel as though my original strip contained much that was facile and unfair. Dagny knows how to cook and Rearden really did make his own metal, as opposed to only paying people to create it. Also, Francisco d'Anconia probably shouldn't have been blonde. I'm halfway through so I don't wanna go on too much, but I will say that it's affecting me. I'm finding truths in it. I suspect once I'm done I will be compelled to do a follow-up strip. Stay tuned.

seeing if i can find the follow-up strip...

You’re telling me I can simply buy more money? Wow why aren’t more people doing this? It seems definitely fool proof

Real quick though why are you using US dollars to denote the value of the bitcoin? Surely a cryptocurrency (that will definitely 100% be the future and dollars will be obsolete) should be the new standard of value

Unless you’re just telling poor people and dumbasses to buy bitcoins because you want them to get even poorer for some reason?

Bitcoin people are basically pure malice at this point. Someone who encourages their family to invest in bitcoin is like someone who encourages their family to try heroin or something
