I log on to the Epic store once a month to see if there's a cool free game available and that's it. I'm not very connected to this stuff but I really don't understand the gamer anger?

I just refuse to buy anything on a game store that won't install on my computer without adding a separate command to the shortcut that I only found on like a Quake forum post from half a decade ago. And if their FAQ didn't tell me to do something literally impossible on Windows 10.

I assume there are other people without this problem though. :v:

I enjoyed RGO but about halfway through the game, I’d seen everything there was to see and had my ship fully upgraded, so It became a slog to get to the end. It needed a few more things to do and things to explore to keep interest through the whole game. But overall I liked it.

I entertained myself a bit with figuring out the actual ideal ship loadout, which turned out to be a Foxbat with 2x Tachyon Gun, 1x Combat Turret, 3x Autocannon

They are incredible. I'm running a T500 with the Fanatec pedals and its game changing. If your wallet can handle it you can always pair with with a Fanatec wheel later too :)

They're actual pedals though, right? Not jpegs of pedals? Not very fidelitous imho

I really enjoyed RGO but did wait for it to be released on Steam before I got it. Don't have anything against epic but prefer to deal with a single games library.

One thing that did sour me on the game is that it has a hidden difficulty modifier which is based on total wealth, not equipped ship/items, so if you play a lot of missions, upgrade your equipment and build up cash, the game becomes punishingly difficult. I had to get rid of nearly 2M credits in cash to be able to beat the last few storyline missions.

Sweet :) You can also use them to drive a hand trolley in SC.

Edit: That's some impressive modding! Nice work.

How many medical rescues have been successful? That will tell whether the game is in a state for full-loot.

Yes a few people are gaining free gear from npc’s. Many more are having their parties break when someone dies and actually tries to get their things back. Many are dying for stupid reasons.

We are not losing our guns in an epic pirate battle. We are losing them to staircases and elevators.

That being said, EGS doesn't sell porn games to my knowledge and the shovelware is basically non-existant?

I think the real problem is that it wasn't received — its release exclusive affairs and some other things kind of made it disappear off people's radar. So it was lost in the noise and went unseen

Ah, fair enough. And while I have no idea how representative I am, I'll raise my hand and say that this is what those exclusives tend to do for me. I get caught in spite of myself in the pre-release hype, exclusive launch has me decide to wait 12 months, and 12 months later, I have forgotten about it and there's other stuff catching my eye. In a way, on my end, it's a good vaccine against hype and pre/day-one purchases.

Again, players need to drop what they think they know about other games and how they are played, this game will not be those games. I think if you really look at the tools CIG is providing it's becoming more and more clear they're not going make something that some players might be expecting.

After Fallout 76 I'd be much more worried about the fact that it's developed by Bethesda than Lethality's endorsement.

That said, you can be guaranteed it won't look anything like SC or any other scam space game because Bethesda only makes one kind of game ever, which I guess is a blessing or a curse based on your perspective. Hey, at least it'll probably be on Gamepass day one, though.

There is some hope, even prophet of doomed game development might be wrong. He was also hyped about Bannerlord and once it released (after 8 years) as a well-received functional albeit janky early access game (stuck in usual EA limbo), he moved it into 'dead' category in his trello board, which means he probably lost hope.
