Wash Hands was always a stupid policy based on bad science about droplet sizes from around the time of the 1918 pandemic. china figured out early that it was respiratory and fomite transmission was not how it spreads, and made that publicly known. the cdc, however, continued to focus on droplets (again, based on a number someone made up whole cloth for something entirely unrelated 100 years ago) and ignored the current science in favor of locked in dogma. Keep 6 ft Away was also based on the incorrect droplet size statistics again, and should have been 25 ft based on what we know about actual physics instead of guesses. but also, it's airborne! stop all the droplets you want, you still have to deal with the airborne aspect. unless you're the cdc, in which case just ignore it. Get Vaccinated and Boosted is a good policy, aside from access being repeatedly restricted in ways that caused a stupid number of doses to get dumped down the drain instead of giving them to "the wrong people." however, the vaccines do not provide sterilizing immunity, so transmission and infection are still entirely possibly, even if somewhat less likely. that would be fine if we were still using non-pharmaceutical intervention, but instead the cdc said masks off. they essentially gave some people a bullet-proof vest and gave them the okay to walk down a firing range. you'll probably survive if you only get hit in the chest, but god help you if someone scores a headshot. Avoid Non-Essential Travel would be more meaningful if "number go up" were not considered an essential reason to travel. but since it is, let's keep cramming 100 people at a time into small metal tubes with no ventilation for hours and tell a bunch of them not to wear masks. Avoid "High Risk" Places would once again be more meaningful if there was an actual recognition of risk. instead it's get vaxxed and immediately go huff body odor at Planet Fitness (fitness roni in yo lungs lol) the entirety of the cdc's response has been making bad calls based on bad science and refusing to correct it until they can no longer deny reality, then shifting the goalposts with the excuse that "we didn't know" because apparently this thread has better access to major medical and scientific journals than they do. the information has been there. from the start, and anyone who tells you it wasn't is a liar or a rube
