I mean, when you run your own school and promotion, yeah, you're going to have a lot of students no matter how long you've been wrestling. Is her point that you don't get to train people if you haven't been wrestling as long as her? She's weirdly obsessed with tenure being equivalent to entitlement, when it demonstrably isn't.

Mei Suruga has been wrestling for 4 years and most of Gatoh Move/ChocoPro are her students/trainees.

That one, I don't think is all her, when plenty of the elder statesmen who are all over the indies now that went through the WWE system would have been exposed to that very sort of thing - case in point longer tenured people in WWE getting buttmad because someone further down the card or *clutches pearls* a referee paid out of their own pocket to upgrade their seats.

The backstage environment that the old fuddy-duddies look back at with rose-tinted spectacles is in the past, deserves to stay in the past, and the industry is still in the process of moving past that poo poo (although, not as quickly as it should, to be honest. Blackballing POS's like Riddle and Jay Lethal would be a good start), and she's increasingly being left behind.

It's honestly loving pathetic that someone in their mid-30s who's been run off from every promotion she's been a part of for poor behaviour is so unwilling to or incapable of doing some self-reflection about their own careers and taking any ownership of their own bullshit.

people in the comments are also pointing out that Rosa has wrestled many more matches in 7 years than Ivelisse has in 17 lmao

there's also some potentially very interesting insight from someone who was genuinely awful and has improved rapidly. that's probably some useful perspective for someone trying to teach others how to not suck at wrestling too!

The Ivelisse situation is objectively very funny. I don’t know if she’s done something actually cancellable, so forgive me, but this is just harmless crank behavior. I hope she never stops.

Dark this week actually had a tiny bit where Paul White and Mark Henry were exasperated that fans wanted pictures with the refs in AEW and seemed bitter.

Far more importantly, check this thread:

Great thread to remember to be kind. The gigantic number of wrestler responses is a sight to see.

Seriously. Rosa was Kobra Moon and it wasn't all that long ago in the scheme of things. Her improvement has been astonishing and while that doesn't necessarily automatically equate to her being a good teacher it does mean she has a hell of a perspective and is a valuable role model/aspirational figure.

Customs are such a weird edge case to count as matches. They're not done in front of an audience, they're not canon, and they're not ticketed, and that's if they're not outright pornography.

if there's a ref and a bell it's a match imo

maybe some people put a lot of effort into having banger matches for customs, regardless of whether someone is pulling off to it later. could also be good practice. they are, i assume, still doing wrestling moves, even if it is the lou thesz press 10 times in a row

I wasn't doing any serious research for a dumb joke, I'm not sure what a better resource would be for "roughly how many matches have people had, make a list in ten minutes".

Though it was also a dumb joke, point taken.

And in the opening match on that same card? Yoshihiro Tajiri.
