Interestingly, Amazon Prime UK just had a post pop up in my YouTube feed that referred to Whitecloaks as "the male balance to the Aes Sedai", and implied they control a large section of the world. Which could just be bad wording in a fairly minor bit of advertising, or could mean the show is doing more with them than the books did.

Anyone who’s watching this in 4K on appleTV owes it to themselves to switch the appleTV to 1080p HDR, it’s actually nuts how much better the effects look. I thought tar valon looked crummy on my LG OLED but I just switched the settings and it was like a whole new picture. Amazon definitely hosed up the 4K feed

There's a lot of posts so I don't know if it's been said but y'all (especially non-book readers) noticed that Egwene channeled without using her hands right after Valda said that Aes Sedai still use it as a crutch right? I don't think that counts as a book spoiler anymore but idk what people will and won't count

The fact that whatever made him leave (and made Amazon let him out of presumably one heck of a contract for a production this big/long term) has been so completely hush hush makes me think it has to be something very personal. If he was tearing around being a sex bad or was a drunk or something I feel like there'd be some whispers about it somewhere. I hope he's not an rear end in a top hat because yeah, dude's killing it. It's been kinda weird appreciating him while knowing he's not gonna stick around

I like the guy playing Mat too, but to be fair his character is also the one that has the most to work with in the first book. Perrin and Rand take a little longer to develop. I have no problem with Loial being shorter since this is a tv budget, but I don't understand that hair and beard, it looks out of place.

I don't know anything about movie make-up and prosthetics, but I imagine that it's difficult to ensure that the mouth looks/moves in a believable way when working with such a heavy layer of rubber/whatever. Maybe the beard is there to hide some particularly conspicuous deficiencies in the getup.

I’m watching Lost in Space right now, and I just finished Casa de Papel. It is exhausting to watch a show that relentlessly drives forward from one crisis to the next, never pausing to let its characters breathe. I am glad for the occasional slow episode, particularly when the characters get developed in the down time. Brandon Sanderson has said that next week’s episode is his favorite of the six early releases, so I have to imagine things won’t slow down again before the end of the season.

To him there are no coincidences, everything that happens does so under the guide of The Light so obviously he was meant to run into them a second time and that's enough for him to put them to the question. About the episode, it kept my attention despite being slower paced. I am invested in the characters, and I got a little choked up for Lan/Moraine at the funeral. I don't get how people don't understand it wasn't about Stephin (sp?), but the overall relationship between an Aes Sedai and her warder(s). It was world building and character development. What do people really want when they watch a show like this? More pew pew and CGI?

She then ran when he asked for her, which basically confirms that she's doing something wrong to him. And the only thing a young woman just outside Tar Valon could be doing wrong is channeling related. As for risking hitting an Aes Sedia? People hate male channelers more than they respect female ones; especially ones who deliberately style themselves as the Dragon, and then start wars in their name. Not hard to read. It's also behavior the Aes Sedai obviously encourage, given that the Reds exist partially to hunt such men, and act like they're vile when they confront them, before wheeling them through the streets in front of people.
