Recently visited my mom out of state. Which meant I got to see the best girl. Her neighbor's dog Zoey. This is a very rare photo. It's hard to get this close to her without her immediately flopping over for belly rubs. It's also hard to get this close to her without fellow dog Allie noticing. Allie is an older Great Dane. She is sweet as Hell, but if pets are being given - they are hers and she WILL come petblock any other dog like a champ. You ever try to pet another dog with a great dane trying to keep you from doing so? Can't be done. The mlem is just a bonus.

We got this little guy when someone at my partners work had a husband decide that the best way to recover from getting busted cheating again was to drop a dog off at the house he was kicked out of. Let me tell you that spending a bunch of money on a dog without consulting your partner isn't a good idea at the best of times and certainly not when you're in the proverbial doghouse yourself. So we got a free* dog as we were looking to get one once covid settled down a bit anyway and she got an ex-husband + no constant living reminder of the cheating rear end in a top hat taking up a bunch of her life when she wasn't after that.   * free does not include the expense of puppy proofing an apartment, food or adorable raincoats for him to wear when its wet.

Reading that it wasn't a good idea in a book seemed to make sense but if your dog is happy then I'd say go nuts greeting him when you return. For all I know we could be doing the wrong thing with this but the little dude seems happy so we stick with it.

my dog has a 50% chance of being happy to see me when I walk in the door and a 50% chance of doing the dog play pose and then lunging at me to play as soon as I open the door, which then has a further 50% chance of nailing me right in the balls with her paw or head because she's a massive 80lb labrador mix here are some photos of her because she is very cute when she's not being a shithead laying on the bed, she is an expert in side-eyeing, she has a genetic mutation that gives her a tiny mohawk-sprout on the top of her head   the first thing she did when we went on the road trip to pick her up was run right up to mom and snuggle up to her. they've been inseparable ever since, though she definitely prioritizes following me around when I'm in the area, since I'm the main foodgiver and walktaker.
