First event in new BRZ yesterday. Thing is a drift machine, can't put power down even after unhooking the rear bar so it needs some changes. First time in a car that can crabwalk out of a corner in 4th (80mph or something) on 100tw tires up to temp.

I'm a van haver but it's not remotely interesting so I don't mention it too often.

A couple buddies have bought AWD Astros as bike haulers and they seem great for that.

Depends on how the classing shakes out, I haven't weighed it yet. It is on 18x9.5s with 255s for now, I'd prefer to be 18x10 is difficult to find or expensive in 5x100 so we will see... as always, bound by classing :)

I'm starting with spring rate changes and finding a stock rear bar to put onto it for now. Signed up for a private event in a couple of weeks so I can get on/off track as I please to do some testing.

The historic plates have nothing to do with insurance or any exemptions here, people can (and do) put them on daily drivers. They still get smogged unless they also have restricted-use insurance.

In a month you'll be able to put copper plates on a Corvette C5 :negative:

Correct the plates and registration are not the same. My C10 is registered as classic/historic and is on restricted use insurance but has the normal plate.

Here, you can use old plates on the correct year of car, but only on antique registration, which only allows for the car to be used for car shows, meets, rallies and parades. They are lifetime registration for $40 though.

I have some 1973 plates, and i am tempted to get vanity plates with the same number and see how long i can get away with running the vintage plate.

They're so pretty.

they stopped stamping the year on them in 74 and went to the current red/white in 1983 so even though you can get the antique registration on a Lincoln navigator now, you can still only run the boring rear end red/white plate

Texas lets you use year-of-issue plates on an antique reg as well. I have a set of 1970 TX plates I intend to use on my Cutlass when it's working again.

edit: I'm going to try it on the RX-7, too, but Texas stopped stamping the year in 1976 (it's a '79.) The plates I need are '77-85. However! I've already nabbed a set of the '79 stickers! Just need the '77-85 plates. Actually, 79-81, if I want the correct letter-number order, but I'll take what I can find. Fortunately, there's a license plate guy who's always at the many swap meets locally-ish, now that there *are* swap meets again (and I'm willing to brave them after vaccinating and numbers go mostly down.)

It was me, and that's a beauty. In exchange, here is my new one:

For context, I'm in Hungary and these are way more rare* around than overseas. For a while now I've wanted a minivan with an automatic transmission and a V engine. Considering the finances, the availability and the family these were pretty much my only option (of course there are enthusiasts here with all kinds of real American beasts, but for the aforementioned reasons I'm not joining their ranks).

* the Voyagers in Europe were assembled in Austria, mostly, so not THAT rare - but most of them were the 2.5 Diesel engines and manuals. The 3.3 V6 AT-s were not exactly flying off the shelves with the European petrol prices. Luckily I don't drive too much so the mileage won't hurt and I can mostly manage my life even when something goes Chrysler in it. So far it seems that it's in pretty good condition, and it's a nice trim with power sliding doors, heated seats, leather and other stuff. Had one single owner for 16 years after being a showroom car, and really feels taken care of.

I had to do rear wheel bearings on the GTI so I needed the carport to do it. That required moving a jeep and the caddy hearse both of them had dead batteries :negative:
My lovely auto zone charger can't really jump a dead battery so I had to jump the jeep wth the GTI then jump the hearse off the jeep.
So yeah, I need a better not too expensive battery starting solution.

They still aren't designed to bring it back from the dead.

The one i have a 1200a with an override mode for 0 volt batteries, but that still couldn't get enough juice into the battery to start a 5.4.

they're still insanely handy to have.

that said, Batteries are expensive and float chargers are cheap if you have stuff that's gonna sit.

I love the car from that angle. It perfectly shows the proportions and all the unique styling bits. No part uninteresting but not overstyled. I just adore it.

When I saw it sitting like that, perfectly clean with the snow around it looked like a brochure shot. A picture staged only to draw the eye towards the car.
