thanks for reminding me, alligator/boxer/high violet is a very good trio of albums, and Trouble Will Find Me has some good songs on it but is also the start of an obvious and natural decline.

matt berninger knows how to do exactly one thing and if you like the exactly one thing he does then i don't think any of their albums can steer you wrong

high violet was a bit weirder than the rest but i am easy to find is one of my favorite albums period

Years ago when I posted alot on the Acclaimed Music forums I made a list of artists who consistently put their albums in the top5 for their year: arguing that this showed that they were consistently great and also consistently better than their peers. There were several bands that had 2 in a row (Fleet Foxes, TV on the Radio, Jane's Addiction, Stevie Wonder, David Bowie, Bjork...there were around 20-25), a handful that had three (Radiohead, Dylan, LCD Soundsystem, Kendrick Lamar, maybe 1-2 more) one group that had four (Beastie Boys, although that isn't true now if you look at the current list) and then one who had five.

The winner?
Bruce Springsteen, from Born to Run to Born in the USA

The Beatles would also have 5 if you exclude Magical Mystery Tour

Top 5 of what? Sales? Critics list? I suspect you mean the former, but just curious.

Yeah, the true run (personally) would be Gimme Fiction through They Want My Soul, but they made what feels like a conscious effort to burn off audience with Transference right in the middle there.
