There is an accretion disc but when people say 'black hole' they tend to mean everything, from the sigularity to the event horizon to the accretion disc. The event horizon is going to be a sphere because thats how gravity works. Some models of black hole that are spinning very fast have ring singularities rather than points. And holographic theory thinks that information that falls into the hole may be encoded onto the surface of the event horizon. But none of this would count has them being discs.

I do not know, I'm not an astrophysicist. I just know stuff gets weird at the extremes so when I read that black holes are discs I was like, "Huh, that's weird and not what I'd expect." I may have misremembered reading it.
