Strom Cuzewon posted:I love how much this implies about the sort of wingnut he is and the bullshit his lawyer had to stop him doing. Sounds like the lawyer kept trying and either got the boot because Johnny Chew reckons he knows more about the law and got real mad about the lawyer trying to be a fancy law-talking guy, or the lawyer literally had to quit because continuing to represent someone so unbelievably thick and convinced of his own genius was going to be severely detrimental to his law practice in future. Either way amazing lmaos. e; in 1990 the fall of the Warsaw Pact really gathered steam and by the end of the year, the end of History was well in sight on the horizon. The part that I found amazing in all that is that the Court Services just let him dial into his case over Zoom without knowing where he is. Like over here, all video link situations are being done in specific locations that they know in advance (from Prisons, Garda Stations, Court buildings.) But this could literally have flown to Bermuda, says he has Covid and has to attend his trial by Zoom and nobody seems to have verified where he is. Like if he is convicted over this and he's not in the country, they are going to have a hard time imposing a sentence. And this fellow doesn't strike me as having enough of an inherent respect for the legal system to just turn up if he gets potted.

Waiting on the results of a fit-to-fly PCR test and I just got an email telling me my test result is positive. …except the email isn’t for me, it’s for someone with my initial and surname who mistakenly thinks they own my Gmail address The comic timing in this simulation is really something.

I've recently discovered this early 20th century Soviet avant-garde 'electronic' music. Very interesting. Something different to mull over anyway while we're all semi-incarcerated again. The first one (Worker's funeral) and the last (tractor arrival at the kolkhoz) are short. Avraamov https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjauwKb42d4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3v3u2sU54Os This was a city wide performance involving ships trains etc and Avraamov had to conduct it using two flaming torches. One of these two has the internationale being sung quietly in the background from about half way through, I can't remember which! (Just checked, it's the Industrial Horns one). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq_7w9RHvpQ Mosolov One of my grandads got pneumoconiosis working in a foundry. He died at 49. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rq1-_UPwYSM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptgKwz7-Ej0 Jaeluni Asjil fucked around with this message at 01:58 on Dec 22, 2021 |

That's true however I think he also has enough belief in his own brilliant understanding of the legal system that he wouldn't see any need whatsoever to flee

Really some atrocious tosh on the BBC this morning about the dreaded Cancel Culture, Maureen Lipman banging on about how you can't say the word Jewish on TV these days or something. Really wishing a very probatable fate for the BBC in 2022. Same crap online too https://twitter.com/Atrios/status/1473577021494243331?t=zeCH5DALhz0K1pePDiEgBA&s=19

Apart from complaining about being viciously assaulted (citation needed) for being Jewish what does Maureen Lipman do? I know the name, is I because she's an actress? Comic? Writer? I don't really know

ML is 100% pro killing Palestinians. I remember a few years ago on a leftist group on Facebook (mostly older people who were new to the whole social media thing - old school socialists who came back to Labour when Corbyn was elected) someone posted that ML was intelligent enough to understand the difference between anti-zionism and anti-semitism and was shocked to discover that she is 100% anti-Palestinian (and if you could get more than 100%, she'd be more).

Right now ML's career is narrating the most Male Author misogynistic poo poo on audible and Coronation Street. Which says a lot about how hard she is to work with given that her theatre and TV workmates in the 1980s included Judy Dench, Maggie Smith, everyone who worked on harry potter and so on.

One case I was involved in had a witness arguing with a senior counsel about what the legal distinction between burglary and aggravated burglary. The witness insisted that agg burglary was just if they caught you with a screw driver when you were trying to burglaries a place. The SC tried to explain that aggravated burglary was when you armed yourself with a weapon during the course of a burglary, but the witness disputed all of this. The witness was a prisoner serving a sentence foe aggravated burglary.

I'm not sure if this is a sign that 2022 is going to be the start of a new era of not-poo poo, or if the world is going to end in the next few weeks to stop something this awesome happening, but Lawnmower Deth are going to release a new album in January, and it's honestly the first pop-culture thing I've been excited about in more than a decade.
