well I stand corrected. sounds like a pretty cool dude. now I’m gonna go read matrix and philosophy

Hey I like Well There's Your Problem, Behind The Assholes and Lions Led By Donkeys, what other pods in a cast would I like? I've given up on keeping up with US politics because it's too boring and y'all are doomed, so preferably no chapos or other US-centric shows

99% invisible
fall of civillizations
revolutions
radio war nerd
cum town*
pod about list* (us-based but more a comedy-type)
Trueanon is the best but it is somewhat us-centric, but i would also say it's not always about following us politics, at least not politics de jour in the way chapo is.
a lot of people like The Dollop which is more wikipedia story-based

if you're british there's Trashfuture, for a trash island

I've listened to most of Revolutions (I think I skipped English, American and 1848) but I stopped following the Russian series for a little while and I ended up forgetting most of the threads and got the names jumbled together, so I'm trying to figure out where to pick it back from.
99% Invisible seems right up my alley. Delivery's a bit dry, but it goes well with all the architecture nerd poo poo i follow on YT
I think I've seen a lot of FoC's content in video form
I might give TrueAnon a shot

yeah 99 PI is dry but it's fine and innocuous which can be good. plus they're short episodes just covering A Thing (or two) like architecture or foley artists or advertising framing or whatever.

another thing I thought of was Something Rhymes with Purple. it's about linguistics/origins of words/vocab stuff.

Welcome to Night Vale is a sort of radio-drama-fictional series (and it's goon-made). Alice Isn't Dead is one of the spinoff shows that's also more like a serial-mystery drama.

i guess i understated how us-centric trueanon is, but i think its great so i'll just recommend it all the time anyways even though it's probably not what you're looking for.

i'll ask my fiance if she has any recommendations. she's much more into generalized history/thing/drama-type podcasts and hates all us-political and/or pop media-covering podcasts.

okay i asked my fiance for some recs from someone who is a us-politics/pop culture hater, but also not a true crime-addicted normie:

You're Dead To Me (history-comedy podcast, i guess the guy who does Horrible Histories)
History Extra (featuring interviews with notable historians on topics spanning ancient history through to recent British to American events. Episodes feature history stories and perspectives on everything from crusading knights to Tudor monarchs and the D-Day landings.)
Victorian Scribbler (A biography, history, and literature podcast about the nineteenth-century writers time forgot.)
Not Just Tudors (Professor Suzannah Lipscomb talks about everything from the Aztecs to witches, Velázquez to Shakespeare, Mughal India to the Mayflower. Not, in other words, just the Tudors, but most definitely also the Tudors. Each episode Suzannah is joined by historians and experts to reveal incredible stories about one of the most fascinating periods in history.)
Off Menu (Comedians Ed Gamble and James Acaster invite special guests into their magical restaurant to each choose their favourite starter, main course, side dish, dessert and drink. Ever wanted to eat your dream meal?)
Fairie Folk (audio adventure through the United Kingdom, where you can explore some of the country's best loved folklore, myths and legends)
Fabulous Folklore with Icy (Fabulous Folklore will give you your weekly fix of fabulous folklore in fifteen minutes (or less)! Hosted by fantasy and Gothic horror writer, Icy Sedgwick, the podcast explores folklore, legends, superstitions, mythology, and all things weird, occult and unusual.)
Something Rhymes with Purple (Susie Dent and Gyles Brandreth invite you to enhance your vocabulary, uncover the hidden origins of language and share their love of words.)

i cant vouch for any of them, but just giving you some poo poo that may be outside of what you'd find recommended in extremely online brain poisoned places
