she made a reductive take that, unbeknownst to her, had previously been discussed and was already considered problematic in certain circles, and when this was pointed out to her, she doubled down. it's not a big deal in any way and the Internet massively overreacted (quelle surprise). i feel like it shouldn't be hard to say "i was unaware of those discussions and did not think through the implications of what i was saying", but the fact that she didn't do that in no way warrants the way she has been treated.

It's still that dumb thing, plus when she responded to the initial complaints about her Raya comparison, she made the ill-advised but absolutely hilarious choice to use the phrase "if you squint at it" which made certain parts of the internet shriek with fury On topic, this is one of my favoritest tweets
