I sometimes miss the Burning Crusade era. WoW was my escape from life during a really dark and depressing time. I made some good friends that I still talk to. It's honestly a shame what WoW and Blizzard* have become. *insert any big developer that is still around from that era and this is probably still true.

Hell, my name here was my first Bnet name where me and a friend backstabbed literally anyone we could in Brood War. That friend died to suicide years ago, but every now and again I fire up Brood War just to get a hit of happy-chemicals and nostalgia.

I replayed original XCOM for like 45 minutes today because you mentioned it and it still is so good. Also I will never not find it weird that a SA LP gimmick got to be a cheatcode in the new one.

  This time we were AT gunners instead of tankers. Takes some effort to position it in Hell Let Loose since you gotta have supply man with supplies, AT guy with the gun placement, and squad leader with binoculars but it's fun teamwork.

Well I bit the bullet and finally bought a switch for my kids for Christmas. Ready to go back down the Nintendo rabbit hole. We have Mario Kart, probably going pick up one of the 2D Mario’s as well, since my daughter is somewhat familiar with them, and my 3 year old might have less trouble.

Nintendo seems to be on the cult of apple path. I hope they innovate a new GPS unit that displays everything in Mario Kart style graphics. I'd also want the ability to fire digital turtles and other people using Nintendo GPS unit or app, and accident scenes be marked with banana peels.

While we're on the topic of blizzard poo poo, finished up a replay of frozen throne last night, just before the new year. Last mission so hard. God what a great game. An improvement in pretty much every way over RoC. I played that first and it was shocking how much poo poo they added in TFT that you couldn't do in the base game. Not being able to use buildings/workers to purchase mercs or shredders blew my mind. No early/mid game healing worth a drat for at least 2 races Is there a bigger fall from grace than blizzard in all of gaming? The disparity of how good they used to be versus how hot garbage they've been for a while seems like it might be unrivaled. Konami maybe? Nothing done about Terran medic blinding anything they could get in range (still mad about a pile overlords all getting blinded), unit selection cap (12 units at a time for a proper Zerg swarm is nearly a handicap all it’s own), and if a single unit is in the way of where you want to build? Lmao gently caress you, cancel the building and move the unit manually or build somewhere else.

If you changed sc in anyway you'd have people lose their poo poo. It's kinda a legacy thing at this point. You think I wouldn't love an idle worker command, or be able to rally my workers to a mineral field? Nope, gotta keep it obtuse as poo poo, that's why it's the most skillful of rts games  . Had someone on gamefaqs way back in the day whining about autocast in wc3 making the game too easy unlike starcraft  Remember their username too

The shitshow that Diablo 3 started off as was the beginning of the fall from grace for Blizzard in my head. After lightning in a bottle with Diablo, and then making so many improvements with Diablo 2, to see them piss it all away was saddening.

Flaming Cliffs, F-5E, F-14, F-18, Harrier, Hind, Gazelle, a map. I think since they were all on sale, that has been about… $250. Not counting peripherals. That’s a lot but only a madman owns it all and bought it all full price versus ~50% off. FC3 plus the free map is the most basic and good entry point. You can also activate a 2 week trial for any plane on the DCS website. After 6 months pass, you get another trial on that plane. You could trial a new plane every 2 weeks until you run out of planes if you wanted, and by that point the first plane you trialed might be available again, considering how many planes they have.

I had fun being the AWACS for some goons on a strike mission. It was gloriously uncoordinated, and 3/4 members of one flight straight up flew into the side of a mountain on ingress. I should do that again sometime.
