Not a game, but sorta related: I really like that The Righteous Gemstones (which is on HBO) has that good ol' HBO thing of including nudity. The only people in the show that get naked are men. Speaking of the show, my partner was re-playing Prey (2017) the other day while I was reading a book, and I had quite a shock when I suddenly heard Walton Goggins's voice.  I forgot he was in the game!

I have no idea what's going on in that Tormentor game, why is diaper mutant throwing corpses in lockers and tossing them over what is this scenario where naked people are wandering around random hallways? I'm assuming this is UE4, Epic has gone far and away the past few years to build lots of free tools for their engine that we're definitely going to see a lot of these style of games in the future. It's not accurate to call them asset flips but this Epic model library, Quixel megascan textures, makehuman models, boom we have a realistic looking horror game where everything is shiny and wet. Its not like rockstar didnt want to hang dong, it just took until ballad of gay tony until the esrb relented under their popular and financial pressure. Afaik the only actual console games you can see uncensored dicks are all rockstar games.

The 2D Elder Scrolls all have full frontal. They're basically paper dolls but they're still post-ESRB games. I don't think the ESRB has ever cared about nudity per se, even before Lost and the Damned released the wang there were plenty of games with boobs and butts, it's just the game industry knows who they're selling to and jiggly peeners ain't it.

I'm playing Cyberpunk right now for the first time, and so far it's really good. I do keep forgetting what my guy looks like until he gets on a motorcycle and I remember he's wearing a skirt and neon windbreaker jacket. I wish my fashion was more visible.

I will somewhat ashamedly admit I bought Agony and Succubus because I was hoping for porn. I was thoroughly disappointed. It looks like a self challenge thing, where you're mean to scare them but also give them a weapon to fight back, then kill them anyway? Kind of like a horror film but you're the evil guy. Cabin in the woods in reverse or some poo poo. It's certainly one of the more er, unique ideas. Not really a horror though.

After the SNES Mortal Kombat fiasco, which inspired a lot of teens to buy Genesis units and write to game mags about it, plus getting angry letters directly from American parents about being a nanny company who was making their decisions for them, Nintendo openly declared mea culpa and went totally hands-off on their content restrictions. That only snowballed as the decades went on, what with Reggie personally appealing to Rockstar to put their stuff on Nintendo systems (which is 100% why GTA Chinatown Wars and Manhunt 2 got made for them) and the rise of digital storefronts being the ultimate democratization for consumers. These days I don't think there's very much aside from outright porn that they won't allow and even then, Sony has been discovered demanding ecchi games get some levels of editing to be on PSN while the Switch editions weren't.

Chinatown Wars is a dope game. I played through it on my 3ds last week and had a ball. I am currently making my way through Silent Hill Origins on my vita and they just gave me a tv to beat enemies with. Does the mailman show up in this one? EDIT: this trucker has a lucky quarter

I just finished Painscreek Killings and I really don't know what to make of it. For the most part I really liked the game, I was impressed with how it managed to string together a pretty interesting investigation in a way that I'm sure was carefully gated but never felt (at least to me) like I was following a fixed path of evidence discovery. I always felt like I had two or three different lines of investigation I could follow. The game also managed to be pretty consistently creepy even without a lot happening. But woof that ending. If you're going to pivot from being a walking simulator to having a forced chase sequence (which was an absolute terrible idea IMO) you better execute it loving flawlessly. I hated the choice to begin with because it felt so out of keeping with the rest of the game, but on top of that it was buggy and slow as hell, I had to try a few times because the door in the church basement wouldn't open the first couple of times, loading times were weirdly bad, and the character model for the bad guy was pretty drat bad. Plus I had no loving clue where I needed to go and ended up having to look it up, it turns out I had to lead him to a spot that I missed entirely because I didn't happen to use one particular stairwell in the hospital and didn't know it led to the roof where there was apparently a broken balcony, blah blah blah. Just a shocking pivot to really terrible game design decisions that killed most of my goodwill for the game up to that point. I'd say it's still worth playing but I got frustrated enough with the ending that I just looked it up on YouTube and I'm glad I did, because nothing about it felt fun to play. I get what they were going for and why they'd choose to end the game that way, but I think it was a really poorly calculated choice with terrible execution. I'm fairly sure they could have not gone that direction and still given the game a satisfying ending. It does make me wish someone would make a good game like this, a horror/suspense game where you're reconstructing a mystery and left largely to your own devices and expected to take your own notes. That sort of game definitely exists, Return of the Obra Dinn did it really loving well, but I liked the atmosphere of Painscreek a whole lot and wish it had been just a little better. I also played A Hand With Many Fingers, which was great for however much I paid for it, but feels more like a proof of concept than a full game, and ends just about when it finally gains some momentum.

Painscreek is also very much an indie game on a strict budget. Nothing else has come from it and idk if anything will which is a shame because they would've nailed it on a second try.
