Could it be this one - no "island", but maybe the golf imagery made you think of Islands?

Techno-ish song, female vocalist. The part I remember is where she’s singing (almost speaking more than singing) “I want it, I want it, I want it, give it to me” or something like that. Maybe it’s “I need it” or “give it to me” or something else but she repeats it 3 times and then says a different thing for the fourth line. The music in this part drops to minimal beeps and boops I think.

The closest I can think of, with a chorus that includes "I want, I want, I want everything" except the verse is much more minimal than the chorus. I Want Everything by Sneaky Sound System https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnGtYP--w0k

A music video from around 2002-2005. It's animated and set in a restaurant. The music is rock or metal and the vocals are the conversation between customers and staff.

I asked a friend about it around the time I first saw it and he seemed to think it was the band Sikth but I've never been able to find the video. It would have probably aired on MTV2 or Kerrang in the UK.

The chorus from that Justin Bieber/Kid Laroi song "Stay" feels really really familiar to me but I can't tell if I've heard the melody somewhere before or if it's just playing on top 40 radio so much it's giving me a false sense of deja vu:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTJczUoc26U

Anyone have any ideas? It's mostly the way they sing the title in the chorus itself. Almost has a frou frou or Imogen heap quality to it

The singing style of the chorus slightly reminds me of Empire of the Sun's Walking on a Dream. Also the slightest bit of Take On Me quality, though not nearly as uptempo.

Listen, I've been around a bit, you know, and I thought I'd seen some creepy things go on in the movie business, but I really have to say this is the most disgusting thing that's ever happened to me.
in the mid 90s my parents had a cassette of an album which was something like a jazz piano set of covers of songs about NYC. I know it included "on broadway", "new york, new york" and "new York in springtime". it is NOT a Barry Manilow album.

iirc the instrumentation was basically just piano and vocals, but it could have been a four piece band.

my dad unhelpfully linked me to Barry Manilow with a disclaimer that he hoped this isn't what i was thinking of :allears:

This one is probably a long shot cause I can’t remember many details, but I’m trying to recall a skramz song that had a music video taking place in an attic (iirc). The band was similar to like old Pianos Become the Teeth or Frameworks. I wanna say I saw the video a long time ago in the Punk/Hardcore/Emo thread, but looking back through my posts, I can’t seem to find it.

Had a question but found the answer myself before posting it. I will post it for the enjoyment of others. The question was about something I had not heard myself, but had seen described a few months ago probably on Twitter. It was a reference to what sounded like a televised live tribute event to Stevie Wonder with various artists performing his songs. I remembered reading that an artist who is a white woman performed "I Wish", and the reaction was not like a full cancel but just noting that it was an odd choice for her to go with a song that begins "Looking back on when I/was a little nappy-headed boy", but I couldn't remember who the singer was and wasn't 100% sure I was even remembering the gist correctly.

It did happen more or less as I remembered, and the performer was Celine Dion.

Got the intro to a song stuck in my head today, and I can't remember anything else about it. I want to say there's a little instrumental intro to it before it cuts to a person scatting, and then the song begins.

It's not the scat song or scatman, and the best I can describe the sound is "bbbbbbbbbbbbbrup, brup chuck chicka bup", kind of a drumroll mouth noise that leads into the scatting.

Edit: found it! Summertime by Billy Stewart.

Albeit with the text I would date it 1996 - 1998 .. sounds like Soma Quality/Phono/Crayon/Pacific (maybe Ferox or Perlon) .. definitely think it's a 90s European house label even with that brash drum pattern ..

for me it sounds very Mark Ambrose in the way, but it can fit a lot of patterns.

I saw this music video about ten years ago and had it in my playlist for a long time, but then I switched accounts and lost it.

It was an official music video circa 2008. The music style was the kind of indie pop that was big at the time. It was a mostly male band with a male singer. The song was relatively slow and mellow but had a nice beat to it. The song was in English and I wager it was American.

The video starts with a blonde girl, teenager, running or walking towards the camera, the area looks like suburbs. The girl has a relatively large gap between her front teeth. She looks upset, stops and screams into the camera with all she has. Then the music starts and she begins running. Her running is in semi-slow motion and is intercepted with shots of the band playing on an outside platform (I think it was a platform), and with a group of cheerleaders performing (also in a slow motion). The blonde girl runs through the streets and what seems like a sports field and eventually runs to a hot air balloon and gets inside. I think that's where the song ends.

Any ideas? I'm completely stumped.
