I get the impression that nobody really wants to move forward with anyone else as T'Challa. He embodied the character so much and became so iconic for what he did that it felt wrong to recast.

If not for the pandemic we'd already be seeing trailers for the next Black Panther movie which would've been released in a few months. It had to be pushed back to December, and I wouldn't be shocked if they end up delaying it again into early 2023. But it's definitely happening, they filmed part of it already. Honestly that cast is probably in the best position of any of the MCU series to move forward with a different lead, because they're stacked with great options. I could name at least three supporting Wakanda characters that I'd love to see bumped up to a lead role in the new movie.
