Blue top is the way to go because exactly what you said/planned. It's a lot easier to get the top black with vinyl than get a good color match on the blue. Great for the indecisive individual like myself.

Yeah I think that's likely the way I'll go with it. And now to purchase a good UV mapped 3D model of the car so I can start working on a custom wrap for it. It's going to use palette of synthwave colors. I'm sure plenty of people will dislike it but :unsmigghh:

When I was considering a used manual R8 I did quite a few designs/renders. I'll have to see if I can dig some of them up.

I can't find my backups of the work that I did, probably on a drive that isn't online at the moment but I have some test renders I did.

First step is to get a profile/overhead/front/back view of the car and trace it in to illustrator:

Put whatever you want on to that:

Get or make a 3d model of the car and UV map it and unwrap it:

Put texture of car from illustrator parts from UV maps:

Make fun scenes and whatnot because might as well:

I made tons of designs and whatnot but those are saved on the backup so these are what I have on hand. For the Emira I'm going to buy a proper high detail model:

It'll be a bit before I start working on it, but I'll take screenshots of the process and try and make a kind of mini tutorial. Depending on the shape of the car it can be really easy (boxy) or really difficult (tons of curves). I'll probably take a basic model to show how to do it since the Emira will be pretty complicated due to curves+high poly model.

The good news is that you can do it in blender for the 3D part which is free and actually good.

Like new, can’t tell there was ever an issue. Took it down to Glastonbury today for the first decent drive since I got it back, feels great. And nice to have a car that actually feels like something to drive again.

I've wanted an MR2 since high school, but I'm well aware that owning a 30+ year old car now would be a pain in the rear end replacing every single rubber hose and plastic bit.

I'd say keep it so we can live vicariously through you, but I got fed up with both my 240sx and MS3 around the time they hit the 10-15 year old mark.

Well I’ve owned this car for like 10 years now, so it feels like it would be good for a change. But if I went with the 2gr that means I’m never getting rid of this car. Just have to wait to see how bad the damage was first. Although I’m in the process of moving house so it won’t be for a while.

I still don’t know much about the emira even after watching the Harrys garage video, but it sure looks neat. I had an Elise on the list for potential replacements but as soon as I drove it I knew it would never work.

Not that it was bad to drive because it was a blast but, I have the stupid idea of beings able to drive around Europe. I’ve got the MR2 to a point where long drives aren’t a horrible slog, the ride isn’t spine breaking, it’s not too loud and it even has working aircon.

The next logical step would be a Cayman but I dunno Porsches leave me cold.

I feel the same way about the Cayman. Something about it just seems unexciting to me, and the 6 cylinder ones that could be more exciting basically exist to be flipped for insane markup. The Emira seems like it wants to be a track capable car but with more GT in it than other Lotuses, considering it can be had with either a sport or GT suspension setup. Even has storage behind the engine like the MR2 does. Should be much more clear at least in the coming months as people in the UK start to take delivery.

They're just a BBS OEM wheel, similar to a lot of their other designs for OEM applications like VW, Porsche and BMW. In the Volvo world these were a fairly rare wheel that was only offered on the 99-04 C70, and even more rare in this optional 18" size. I also have the 17" version on my 122.

They're a bit dated at this point but they're still my favorite wheel. I got them on ebay in 08 and haven't let them go. I run them on whatever is my daily. Previous fitments:

Haha I wish, no it’s just too uncompromising. Stuff like the cars having weak heaters making it difficult to de mist when it rains here, the gigantic door sills etc. Basically lots of little things that I could instantly see I’d hate just using the car normally.

I had a passenger ride in one a couple years ago on track too which again impressed me although the owner was a motorsports engineer and was running their own developed suspension setup. But we were pretty much sitting shoulder to shoulder, like i’m relatively broad shouldered but not gigantic and they weren’t exactly that wide either.

If it was a car that never saw the road then fair enough, but then I might as well just get a caterham. Plus I don’t have the space for a towcar, trailer my daily and a track car. Maybe if I find a decent sized unit to rent when I move out of London.

Yeah, I like the exterior and interior more than the C8. I've it about 10 years now and, notwithstanding a couple of issues (biggest one being the turbos going and having to fight with Audi about the ((enormous)) replacement cost), it's been an absolutely fabulous family car.
