I think with the nature of being an MMO, it pretty much put itself in a super-polarised position where you either loved the hell out of it or didn’t touch it at all. I’m still baffled by just how strong a showing it had. I don’t know if it will ever happen again.

I managed to make an account in FFXIV not long before free trial people weren’t allowed to make new characters anymore, and I’ve dipped my toes in a bit. My character, Putzie Curtis, is a level 19 marauder, and I just travelled to the other two main areas for the first time. It’s fine. Like, I’m not bored or frustrated, but I’m also not enchanted (the combat is better than I expected, which is a plus). But I know this isn’t what I’m here for. I’ve spent so many years hearing about what I have to come, and I’m more than happy to spend tens and tens of hours more getting to the stuff people rave about. So so many people have a plethora of incredibly positive things to say about it and I can’t wait to see what it is they love so much. Whether or not I’ll feel the same way, who can say? But I highly doubt I’ll feel cheated or anything. Thanks so much to everyone posting along. This has been a great and very exhausting several hours and it’s been great to spend it with you. I usually most in the PS5 thread so it’s nice to venture out and remind myself of what the rest of Games is like. Turns out it’s mostly MMO players and weebs with Switches! But like, in the best possible way. Thanks to Veeg for the awesome images, which are super cool and professional, the haikus to tide us over during the break, and of course the Oskirbs, which are fantastic and adorable. Also just for being a good friend and person the past year. In fact shoutout to all the Veeg Stream Family! You’re my favourites. And thank you Rarity for coming back and working your rear end off to tally it all up and do all the stat stuff and then also writing hilarious things and using every quote of mine where I called myself an idiot or a dumbass which made me laugh very hard. This thread is so special and I really appreciate that you do so much to entertain us. See you guys next year, when I’ll have actually finished Psychonauts and Disco Elysium, and hopefully played a lot more of FFXIV!!!!!
