Its damage just isn't that good when you consider it doesn't give any big buffs to the group like DNC/BRD do.

It's not really that big a deal from a gameplay standpoint, but pretty much MCH is supposed to be the highest-damage ranged DPS class since the only utility it offers is Tactician (which is mirrored and mutually exclusive with Troubadour on Bard and Shield Samba on Dancer). Right now the class does less damage than Bard, meaning that if you take a Machinist over a Bard you lose utility (Knight's Minne, Warden's Paean) in exchange for less DPS. Dancer also brings Curing Waltz and Improvisation to the table over Machinist, and it's getting its numbers tweaked to do more damage.

Those utility skills aren't incredibly important so if your ranged player wants to play MCH it's absolutely 100% OK for them to play MCH, it just feels bad that the class with zero utility isn't doing more damage to make up for it.

Warrior is ludicrous in dungeons but the same tools are less so in raids so I think there's not much pressure to nerf them. Warrior is in a good place right now for raid tanking but not overpowered in that setting either, and that seems to probably be the bigger concern for balancing. I dunno, maybe they'll add diminishing returns on Bloodwhetting's healing in 6.1 for hitting multiple targets or something but I'm not sure what the history is for changing balance based on dungeons specifically.

This is the answer. Dungeon balance is not really a concern for SE.

No matter how one loves, there are always different aims. Love can take a great many forms, whatever the era.
I am still relatively very new to this game but my experience playing with my friends is that our Dark Knight runs past like three or four groups of mobs that the game, I don't know, maybe wants us to fight one or two at a time and then twenty different enemies claw his eyes out while our Sage shoots lasers at all the enemies and the Dark Knight dies and then they all talk about how bad Dark Knight is and I go "why don't we just fight fewer enemies at a time" and they're like "no you don't understand"

Anyway I'd really like to get Bard to 90 but it's taking fuckin' forever and I've gotten to the point where the leveling roulette no longer even gives me a full level's worth of EXP so if I get some disposable cash soon I might just pay to shoot it up to 80.

Ahh ok, well MCH sounds like something that can be fixed with a few potency adjustments so I'm sure they'll get around to it sooner or later. I like a lot about MCH except for the hypercharge / heat blast spam part of it. I realize it's one of the key mechanics, but it just doesn't feel good to me (maybe it's just the swinging my gun like a sword heat blast animation).

once you get blitz the priority of what you want never really changes between there and cap. you need both nadi-- lunar and solar.

lunar is gotten by getting three of the same beast chakra. you should get this by alternating bootshine and dragon kick. or dragon kick and bootshine. doesn't matter which you start with, as long as all three are gotten by those two abilities. these are the three most damaging gcds you can ever pick under perfect balance, which will come up again later.

solar is gotten by getting three different beast chakra. it doesn't really matter which gcds you pick. you can kind of just hit perfect balance and then continue your rotation as normal. in an ideal rotation, you can ensure that this nadi is gotten by at least using demolish and twin snakes, and then follow that up immediately with the lunar nadi pb, because that takes some time and you want to make sure your buffs and debuffs were applied recently and won't fall off while you're spamming bootshine. but until you have riddle of fire and brotherhood, i wouldn't worry about lining this up perfectly.

once you have both nadi, the next perfect balance you do of any combination will lead to tornado kick (eventually upgraded to phantom blitz). because the pb can be anything, it should be bootshine/dk spam again, because it's the most damaging thing you can do. however, if you gently caress it up somehow, you will still always get the final blitz, so don't worry about it too much. this includes if you beef it really badly and only get two beast chakra instead of all three or just one repeating

you should try to avoid two beast chakra at all times. an example of this would be like, perfect balance into dragon kick, twin snakes, bootshine. that's two opo opo and a raptor. if you get this, your blitz is celestial revolution which is the comedy option. it does trash damage with no aoe. the only upside to it is if you already have either lunar or solar nadi, you will get the other regardless of which you need. it is not worth targeting on purpose, either way.

At 60 you have almost the full toolkit, so this is pretty much the same as max level: your best three-hit DPS output is Bootshine+Dragon Kick (either BS-DK-BS or DK-BS-DK depending on whether you have a Leaden Fist up when you start) so you always want to do that for the three-of-the-same Nadi and as often as possible for your finisher. The three-different Nadi is entirely based on what buffs you need -- is Disciplined Fist gonna drop off before your finisher? Use that. Ditto Demolish.

Similarly, the stack of freedom you get post-Blitz should always be used on Bootshine or Dragon Kick unless you have a buff that needs to be refreshed.

For your finisher the most important thing is that it doesn't matter what you do at all, because as long as you have both Nadi you'll always do the big hit. Your best DPS is BS/DK, but if you need to refresh a buff you can do DK-BS-buff without weakening the finisher.

The only thing that changes as you push to 90 is that burst windows get more important. Once you have Riddle of Fire you want all your blitz to land during RoF windows, which line up so you can do RoF-two blitz-downtime-RoF-blitz finisher.

I only have excellent ideas

Part of my dissertation was about a mid-century writer with the same name as I guess a famous anime character so whenever people of a certain age asked me what it was about they'd have a half second where they thought I was just in grad school studying this anime bad guy, and whenever I googled him to find a photo to use for stuff I'd have to wade through tons of images and fanart of this steampunk guy with a helicopter coming out of his back, so I feel where this person is coming from.

One thing I have discovered is that if you are writing about basically anything and need to find actual sources you are inevitably going to discover that it was connected to an anime.

They have a lot of stuff to balance around. They have the backend data on, eg, stuff like trust dungeons and solo duties and if those things are taking longer or have a higher failure rate for Dancers than BRD or MCH due to the damage difference that's an issue that needs to be addressed. They can't only care about high end trials and raids.

I mean it's not like the bosses are skipping phases if you bring an optimal comp unless you're also parsing 99

I think it would be fine if every comp was doing within 5% of the current optimal comp
