So what’s the deal with levequests this time around, now that triple turnins are gone? Just level, then basically forget about them? Or are there any that basically print money for no great effort after you get everything to 90, like coffee biscuits and mythril files?

I feel like tsai tou vounou leves are probably as close as you'll get to the coffee biscuit leve? Can get about a mil from a full stack of 100 leves but prices for them aren't so low that you can just buy them off of the market board and flip them for a zero effort profit.

Yeah, Tsai is the closest you can get. None of the mats require Bicolors, and Palm Sugar's the only secondary mat that eats up crystals. It's still not especially good money - you're looking at about 10k per leve - but it doesn't require any finagling with the MB, and they're pretty easy to macro to HQ with some melded level 90 gear.

Level 83 dungeon axe. There's a shinier one crafted at 89, but if you're going to use a buzzsaw axe it should be a tarnished one. Yes, the sawblade spins with churning pistons.

Is there a basic overview for SMN? I was thinking of levelling it and realized I literally did not play it throughout all of Shadowbringers. It's good now? Titan's rear end?

just hit a training dummy for a bit and you'll grasp it immediately. I dunno what it plays like at very low levels, but at least from level 50+, it's

aethercharge/dreadwyrm trance/summon bahamut/summon phoenix (these are all the same button) to enter a phase where ruin is good. Then you get charges to enter garuda/titan/ifrit phases (colored carbuncles at low levels, then egis, then at level 90 the real thing). There's another button, gemshine I think, which is better than ruin during this phase, and you get a limited number of uses per primal before it kicks you out, at which point you summon the next primal. Somewhere in the 80s, the deathflare button starts doing something in ifrit/garuda/titan, so press it too. Use ruin as filler after the primal phases end but before the 60s cooldown on summon bahamut or whatever is back up.

The jury is still out on if Summoner is good in terms of DPS and stuff right now. Pretty much everyone agrees that the job is way more rad now and finally plays to the power fantasy of summoning big fuckers to smite your enemies.

It's okay, damage is a little low compared to the old version, but it's also much easier to play.

Basically you go between two phases, one where you summon different flavors of carbuncle (and later on, small primals) to get special instant-cast spells. Every 60 seconds you can use aethercharge (and later, summoning demi-Bahamut and Phoenix) which gives you stronger normal spells to cast (or more instant-cast spells with the demi-egis, plus nukes and heals).

You basically just switch between different spells to spam, most of them instant-cast. The egi summons gets more involved, but not until like level 86.

No more DoTs with the exception of Garuda’s slipstream placing a ground effect DoT.

SMN is one of the lowest DPS classes, but due to ease of play you’ll often see (if you run act) that it is near the top in groups, but that is mostly others not playing well.

Yeah this is pretty accurate. I haven't done any raids with it but between regular trials and dungeons slipstream also seems to do a surprising amount of dps - usually in my top three abilities - so optimizing that is another little quirk. Having a gap closer and heal are also kinda neat to pull off appropriately but overall yeah, pretty simple. Great to share gear with my RDM primary just to mix things up occasionally.

A lot of physical classes get fun ones for that tier.
--PLD gets a handheld power saw
--DRK gets a chainsaw
--GNB is a chainsword 40K style, sadly not animated
--DRG is a *ahem* suggestive drill
--RPR is a motorized branch trimmer
--MNK is absolutely nasty saw knuckles
--NIN is the Paladin's saw times 2

The rest have a neat aesthetic but no fancy animations

I want to like new SMN, but I almost feel like making everything not have a cast time was a huge mistake? Like I appreciate the freedom of movement but with how big damage can get, I feel the cast time actually makes it feel like there is a pay off. Even if it was just the summons and you upped their potency, casting them would be neat. Also you know the whole, I play a caster, I actually like...casting.

Summoner has been instant casting for a long time now, and the times they had cast bars was when they had nothing else to push if you were doing your rotation correctly. 5.0 Smn was essentially a prototype version of 6.0 SMN, before they had to bandaid it into the 5.1 version, since 5.0 had just a few too many spinning plates between its trance-casting/EA, dot management, and ED/Fester buttons. All 6.0 really did was cut the dots, and combined trance casting with EAs, and turned ruin 4s into Astral flow, so you got a pretty simplified summoner now. Being mobile has always been part of SMN's dna though since the other big appeal of dots is you're still doing dmg while running around. That's obviously not a thing anymore, but it's why they still retain their mobility.

Anyway I'd really like to get Bard to 90 but it's taking fuckin' forever and I've gotten to the point where the leveling roulette no longer even gives me a full level's worth of EXP so if I get some disposable cash soon I might just pay to shoot it up to 80.

Nobody responded to this, but the reason they're going "No you don't understand" is that every other tank does this and lives, Dark Knight does it and dies (or at least is much harder to keep alive).

It's about parity of capability basically, not whether or not pulling 3 to 4 mobs is okay, but that 3 out of 4 tanks do it with very little stress and the fourth has trouble.
