All American politicians are corrupt, by simple virtue of the fact that you can't get into office in without being beholden to various interests, especially after Citizens United etc. The sad fact is that no one who would be good at governing is interested because they're far too smart and/or principled to even try for office, and in a similar way to cops, the people who DO want to be politicians are exactly the people who shouldn't be allowed to be. Look at the way everyone fellated Obama (and people still do), even with his atrocious record of killing brown people overseas / deporting them here, because he was "the editor in chief of the Harvard Law Review" (though whenever people concentrated on that it always sounded like the dogwhistle of "he speaks so WELL!"). And to be clear, I voted twice for him because what the gently caress else were you going to do given our system. I just have no illusions that he was more than mediocre. I generally begin to rotate the barrel towardy target as soon as the weapon clears the holster and will have my support hand on it around the same time. You actually see that position if someone is wounded in that arm, the body tends to pull a wounded arm in and when you train to shoot with one hand you are told to place your arm in that position to replicate that.

Basically everyone I work with is conservative. They feel the same way about their candidates as most of us feel about Democrats. They don’t agree with every stupid thing their side spouts, but they’d rather have less government than more so they’re stuck voting Republican and just choose the least worst option. This Us vs Them stuff only seems to exists with the insanely online or old people. The rest of us can have a drink with someone who doesn’t share all our political views without getting twisted up. I’ll take my dog-piling off the air thanks
