I'll admit this is an emotionally charged subject for me, and I know that kind of emotional vulnerability and appeal to  isn't going to get a warm reception in this thread. But if you're going to express concern about sexual misconduct in nerd subcultures it should be something discussed seriously and in good faith, not as a cheap joke at the expense of the cliche of stinky annoying nerds.

It requires a particular flavor of lovely to make that sort of snipe and it is tied up in the other stereotypes to which DoctorWhat is referring. Using them sarcastically in that light might make more sense? There's a lot of go-gently caress-yourself in the responses to that kind of poo poo because it happens all the time and it's not about the gravity of the situation, it's just a cheap shot at a game community that doesn't get a lot of respect. The Smash community in the US is doing more to figure itself out and to unfuck itself than any major fighting game I can think of (including and perhaps especially the one I remain peripherally involved with) but nobody is making low-effort drive-bys to poke Street Fighter players because LTG and Infiltration (or after this week Robinho, I guess) exist.

"Well Super Smash Brothers is a fun party game and those who play it competitively are ruining it by taking it seriously." At least that's probably what the latter hear from time to time. As for why Nintendo shuts down tournaments, I think its more that they really dont like people making money of modded content? Its a shaky subject for sure.

Cinemasins lack even the most basic understanding of films, storytelling or anything really. I think plot hole complaints are the lowest hanging fruit in regards to criticism. But Cinemasins can't even do that properly considering how wrong they are about almost everything. They cannot reach that incredibly low bar. Judging by their calibre of joke, I think the closest thing to a film made by cinemasins are those Epic Movie, Date Movie etc parody films.
