Give me a quick reminder about civilizations in the Solar System besides humans and Arrako? Off the top of my head there's

Eternals - Titan
Inhumans - Moon (are they still around?)
Deviants (??) -underground?
Counter-Earth

Yeah but those guys have their own homeworlds, unless I've been slack on whatever they've been up to. I'm asking more about groups that would have decent claims to solar system representation

Actual Penance, or Monet?
Edit: gently caress, it's Monet.

Every single Monet-adjacent character (the twins as Super M, Emplate, and Penance/Hollow) would be a more interesting choice.

Yup. Can't believe not a single writer, not even Spurrier, has tried to do anything with Emplate or the other members of the St Croix family.

How Wonderful!
Jul 18, 2006

I only have excellent ideas
Emplate has been mentioned-- I think there was a data page explaining how he and Selene could hang around without being serial killers (notwithstanding that Selene was, ah, running around mass murdering people in the TNC Cap)-- but has not had a spotlight yet. I imagine if X-Corps had run longer he might have come up.

It's me, I'm the weirdo who thinks Emplate could get a redemption and have it stick.

Resurrect his (and Monet's) mother (she was certainly a mutant or he wouldn't have fed on her), maybe kill him off and resurrect him to fix the damage to his X-Gene that requires him to feed (even if this eventually doesn't stick / degrades), and explore how the golden child / scapegoat relationship he and Monet had was really hosed up and you've got a character who is only marginally more dangerous to teammates than Rogue.

Emplate has to feed, but if nothing else Kroatoa has accidentally established that there's a way for him to do so safely.

I haven't thought about Counter Earth since either Ewing or Remender brought it back to relevance in their runs. Man, Counter Earth was fun. People forget that Doom has a whole other world he rules (ruled?)

The Deviants are currently in a "reality-haunt" near the floor of the Pacific Ocean, as per Gillen's Eternals.

There's a population on Uranius, called the Uranians, who are responsible for the first Marvel Boy's powers. I think they're also Eternals?

I'd read it.

Just legit let him work out how much it sucks to have a family so messed up that, when Monet and Marius got banished to the Hell Dimension, rather than letting themselves become the new golden child / scapegoat Claudette and Nicole thought it would be safer to transform themselves into a copy of Monet in order to keep their father from abusing them.

Isn't that the same guy who grabbed Phobos? Honestly, the one criticism I have of the current X-Men comic is how much the human antagonists blend together. There's the rich space guy, and the rich genetics guy, right? But both somehow have super powers?

it's marvel. if you have money getting superpowers isn't difficult.

for the phobos guy, he was planning to travel to mars by himself to claim it for himself. instead of terraforming (because he can't do that), his plan was a series of surgical and genetic alterations so he could survive on a dead planet with no atmosphere. so, it is extra funny that this rear end in a top hat got screwed over.

I expect that series to be quality throughout, but I'm sure Sinister will be especially good. Though I missed the specific issues, I understand Gillen is to thank for Sinister's modern, campy personality.

Hickman is really interesting on podcasts, I just listened to the Off Panel one. And there's the Jay & Miles ones too. On Off Panel he goes into that a bit, the interviewer was saying how it's not an ending, and indeed it's a pivot point etc. Hickman says he wanted to build rather than blow it up on the way out and whatnot. And it sounds like it'll go somewhere that is in the ballpark of where he was going to take it, but there are a few possible avenues to get there, and new good ideas from the other writers etc. Lotta intriguing stuff.
