This is an ideal spot for me. Constantly confused yet the series still feels like Paru knows where she's going with all this bizarreness.

While I wouldn't be surprised in the least if this ended up being canceled, it seems too early. Bleach guy also fought the ghost that killed his mom pretty early IIRC.

Nah, we've been through this rodeo before. God turns up, gets beat, becomes part of the rotating cast. It feels like there's an overall story that will get resolved eventually, but it mostly revolves around Uneras and her true intentions behind sealing everyone away. She is pretty much the linchpin of everything that's happening, but when Magu-chan spoke to her true body she was too ashamed to show her face to him. My guess is that she feels a lot more guilt for how she treated humanity than she is letting on and sealing everyone's powers away is a long play for teaching the others the same lesson, but I guess that can be resolved whenever the author feels that the series has run its course.

I forget, was that before or after the "Quincey Hates You" arc?

Wasn't there supposed to be a Ayakashi chapter this week? I didn't think it was on a break this week.

Edit: Oh...oh they skipped it. Wow, they really didn't want to ship that one off to Seven Seas and they're now paying for it hard, huh?

Bondo Taira may be an ordinary youth in Japan, but in any other nation, he would be a monster, like putting the Ginyu Corps in the Red Ribbon saga!

PPPPPP continues to be terrible and rank low in the ToC, but apparently volume 1 sold out its print run and is scheduled for an immediate reprint. It's not a guarantee of survival, given how things went for Phantom Seer, (and how the first run was only 10K copies) but it's the first real sign of a pulse in a while. Meanwhile, Ayashimon is getting a color page in its first ten chapters, which is a remarkably good showing. The last series to manage that in a while was Blue Box, and that hit 70K plus opening weeks with volume 2.

High School Family - Continues to be the best sports-related manga in the line-up, which amuses me. It's just really sincere with having the dad finally achieve his dream of aiming for the nationals.

Mashle - Wait, so the guy Mash defeated wasn't the super tough opponent it was teasing at the start of the arc? They looked so similar that I wasn't able to tell until now.

Elusive Samurai - Really nailed the petty child vibes with the grandson with the reveal that he doesn't even like his grampa's attention that much, he just doesn't want anyone else to get it.

Sakamoto Days - The old man better be okay. Maybe he was able to cut the explosion before it hit him. :ohdear:

Blue Box - If it were any other manga, Taiki and Chinatsu would go to where Hina was waiting and cause a huge misunderstanding so I'm glad they avoided that cliché. The way this series handles the emotions of the characters in a fairly nuanced way makes this one of my favorites in the line-up.

Ayashimon: I love Mondo so much.

Elusive Samurai: Toshiyuki on the offensive sure is frightening. Makes sense that nobody in the shrine can catch him, and I like that Sadamune continues to be perceived as a threat in Toshiyuki's mind instead of being a one-off villain.

Mashle: Mash walk up wall real good.

Sakamoto: drat. drat, drat, drat.

Since this is happening with Manga Plus too it might be a decision directly from Shueisha.

I have the distinct impression this week's chapter was skipped because it included a panel from last week's chapter and literally nothing else.
(Or possibly because it's a part 2 so it'd less weird if they skip both)

Viz's translation is still used for the Mangaplus version, so Viz not localizing it effects Mangaplus too.

There are some cases where they don't use Viz's localizers however- like Kaiju #8. There's a separate English translator for the Mangaplus release.

Shueisha owns Viz, so any editorial decision is reflective of the entire chain. I've seen elsewhere the guess is that Apple is the lynchpin, as in they won't allow Shueisha to have their apps on the Apple store with that type of material. Maybe they hoped the author would abstain, or maybe they'll sell those chapters in print with a plastic wrapper (isn't that what they basically do for their own material in Japan?).

All in all if you think about it it isn't that surprising.

Oct 23, 2012

they already have entire licensed series that aren't available in the app (Jigokuraku, Golden Kamui) with no indication of that, and there have been incidents like the CSM chapter they couldn't put in the app

the Ayatri stuff is different and especially hosed because they just dropped translation on those chapters entirely. it doesn't follow past precedent like the CSM chapter where it's still accessible outside the purview of a busybody like Apple

Sorry - I thought the main bulk of AT was funny and ridiculous enough that it was an enjoyable read. I'm a sucker for things like Shirogane and Turbo Granny. The incesty groping really caught me off guard because everything else was about awkward teens amongst themselves.

Thank you to whoever said they thought Elusive Samurai picked up after chapter 7 or 8. I had tried the first couple and bounced off of it. I tried it again after seeing people's posts and yes, it's really good.

If people like Ayashimon but haven't seen/read Jigokuraku: Hell's Paradise they should really check it out. It's site only, not on the app, and the previous work of the mangaka. Has some stunningly beautiful panels and striking imagery in it. The basic plot is that a young man, an infamous and revered assassin, is set to be executed. He is offered the chance of a full pardon and new life if he can find the elixir of life on a mysterious island. The government officials have decided to round up and send a bunch of hardened criminals to this island because the last party sent were never seen or heard from again, save for a single set of remains returned to them in a boat, smiling with flowers blooming from what is left of the body.

Completely opposite in tone to Ayashimon and they make a really good pair.
