Zero One posted:OSHA approved roller coaster demolition. *later investigations discover that he's actually a Trumpian figure who mismanages everything he owns into the ground and makes all his profit entirely off corporate welfare. Instead, Joseph gets a controlled burn permit for burning off "old wood". With which he pulls a Joker-and-the-money-pile from The Dark Knight and sets all the old railings and support beams that need replacement on fire without first removing them from the historical structures he wasn't allowed to demolish directly. It turns out that his entire business plan was to destroy the park and force the local community to give him money to rebuild the park if they ever want to have anything more than a pile of rubble again and skim off the top of that. https://www.meadvilletribune.com/ne...9c8c461eec.html Now the real OSHA-thread part of this is that the maintenance staff wasn't informed that this would be happening to the structures they were working on. Robber barons burning down factories for insurance money without informing the workers inside, now in 21st century form! Asehujiko fucked around with this message at 16:43 on Jan 17, 2022 |

On the subject of the train container break ins, that's a switching/congestion/rail network failure because it they could keep moving instead of at a dead stop for hours the thefts would be much lower.

I heard the congestion issue is because the trains are so drat long that the railyards can't deal with them without splitting them up and that takes forever.

Or more! ridiculous. also no we can't use any of that saved money to expand the rail yard, either.

The only time I thought I had a package stolen was a pair of headphones I ordered online, maybe from NewEgg. I waited and waited and they never showed up, even though they were marked as delivered, and after jumping through a lot of hoops I got another pair shipped. Fast forward a year or so and I open the back door from kitchen while cleaning, which was never used because the place was tiny and that was where a utility cart lived when not in use, and stuck between the screen door and the outside door was the missing package. The delivery person had in fact delivered it, but to the door I never used and in a way that was invisible from the outside. In my defense, the front door was obviously the front door, and had the mailbox and house number on it.

Dumb question about the Tonga volcano and this seems like a reasonable place to ask. If a submarine had been close I assume it would get very fuckled. But how close would be too close? Would it just pancake or explode or what?
