It blows my mind people are still pulling "I have a black friend" as if they don't know as well as anyone that this excuse never amounts to anything. It's used so widely and mockingly in the most popular media surely they must know this by now. They were probably bidding against someone else in their decentralized autonomous org who either didn't realize they weren't supposed to be bidding on behalf of the DAO or who was trying to buy it themselves for the exact same stupid reasons.

Somebody mentioned a game called Axie Inifinity as a 'counterpoint' to people mocking this, talking about 'all those people overseas making money from gaming' I looked it up; to start you need to buy 3 'axies' which are like $300 each. Or, you can borrow 3 axies from established players who will then take a %40 of your income. It's pyramid schemes all the way down
