When we adopted our orange tabby, the rescue place said he does not like going to the vet. We had to take him in for an echocardiogram during the pandemic (so just drop off and wait in the parking lot) and we told the specialist that he does not like the vet. So she said she would give him an extra dose of tranquilizer then to be safe. When she called a few hours later to tell us the results of the echo, she said that two doses weren't enough to knock him out and that she had to administer a third dose to finally do the job. I had never been more proud.

A timed shutter doesn't seem like a good idea for reliably taking a photo of a cat. You can't really make them look at the camera and say cheese.
