I gotta get further than where I am to fully comment, but Max Payne 1 is not exactly a well varied or interesting environment either. I think they reuse that one foundry room four times and I stopped counting the number of boring snow floor warehouses in the midpoint because its a blur

BRRREADSTOOORRM!

Interesting that Nintendo, Capcom, Sqeenix and Konami are all seen as targets for retaliatory purchase.

Nintendo is obviously doubtful, as is Konami. Konami's presence in the casino sphere would open the Sony board to a pretty hefty barrage of investigation and background checks before the purchase could be approved. Ownership of a casino product in the states requires a 'key' license, it's also required when you're the direct report of anyone with a gaming license.

When I went for my key I had to fill out a 200 page questionnaire, including all itemized bank account and credit statements for the last 8 years.

This is a large deal to get through they probably would be unable to make a counter offer until its done. At least for appearances to make the ftc approval go smooth. They could do a hush hush like nah bro say no to sony we'll totally buy you in 2024 tho.

I really dont see it being an issue, honestly. Its not like theyre allowed one acquisition at a time, and even if they bought like, SE on top they might still be third place in revenue.

Its a poo poo-ton of game. And 70gigs is much, much less than the sum of the individual install sizes. Seriously. 70 gigs isn't egregiously big in this case.

played the new Rainbow Six game on lunch break today. why is this a standalone title and not just an optional add-on for Siege? it's not really all that riveting but fun for a couple rounds maybe? still rather play L4D or CoD Zombies

Honestly I’m not even sure what the differences about it are. It’s not like it’s a return to the actual rainbow six gameplay, is it?

god no, it's Siege but with alien zombies that spread black gunk all over the map and make you run very slowly. it also has a weird emphasis on stealth despite the game's design being super run-and-gun. I kept failing the tutorial until I realized I literally could not complete it unless I crouch walked through an entire map area to avoid alerting enemies, which it doesn't tell you to do. lame

I think Konami also makes medical equipment?

Apparently Apple was seriously considering buying Sony a couple of years ago, with Amazon also having their eyes on Sony as well. That would have been interesting for sure :stare:

Anyways, I remember someone mentioned that they liked Burnout yesterday and I forgot to mention a bunch of BC titles are on sale right now and Burnout Revenge is one of them! I think Burnout Paradise goes on sale pretty regularly too but it's a shame the BC team never got round to Burnout 3. I'm sure the only issue was music in which case I wish they could have communicated with EA about possibly removing the offending tracks even if it meant all the music had to go. Would have been worth it. I think when Sega remastered Jet Set Radio there were only a small number of tracks they had to remove and most of the soundtrack remained so it does make me wonder about Burnout 3 and Jet Set Radio Future.

Max Payne 3 is on sale as well, for anyone wanting to grab that as well given all the chatter about those games. I think they pulled the plug on the multiplayer servers years ago so you'd just have singleplayer, though.

I played 3 a few weeks ago and it looks like muddy rear end with all of the post processing going on, and there’s a cutscene after almost every encounter. It loving sucked.

Played the poo poo out of MP2 on pc back in the day. The Equilibrium mod was sick.

Playing 2 on console now and good lord do the controls feel clunky as hell, apparently there aren’t even sensitivity sliders wtf

Edit: thinking about it now it’s so wild how many encounters in 3 are designed to keep you pinned down behind cover. The other games were all about moving and shoot dodging and 3 really only works if you finish each fight from behind a pylon for the entire engagement

Hitman 2 with all the imported levels from 1 is around 120 GB so they did some serious compression in 3 to both add another game's worth of levels and shrink the whole thing by almost half
